ok naman kinetic kd6. but for the budget, I'll get mb quart nano series or kicker 650.2. tignan lang muna if papasok midbass kasi near 7 inch na yung kicker.

Mind you that magnets are well... good indicators of bass performance generally speaking. And because of the fact that you can bet that they're using ferrite magnets (neodymium magnets for those component sets costing 6 digits or more) so you can make a simple A/B comparison between speaker A and speaker B.

That's the thing about car audio: it's all about marketing and brands. For starters, your satisfaction is more governed by bias rather than the actual performance itself. In any case, simply be happy with the speakers :D

Kinetic KD6 are simply rebranded MDS Sweden speakers. Is this bad or good? Well... Neither. They might be good because their company has at least researched and invested in engineering them.... and the bad, well... maybe our local OEM manufacturer Targa is better. Kinetic is a locally-grown brand of AMX Tubes owned by Andrew. Their specialty is in home audio tube drivers.. as for their car-audio lineup, I won't be surprised if they're simply rebrands. I like the owner, but I hate their sales team. I kept throwing them moderately-technical questions and they evaded every one of them. Bahh..

Please don't be fooled by their "our KD6 has Bennic capacitors" marketing talk because the ones they use are Bennic PMT caps.. and those are like.. less than $1 per piece. And as with products, there are inexpensive ones and expensive ones.. Mundorf capacitors (probably the most famous audiophile capacitor "brand" worldwide) can range from $10 to $300+ per piece.

MB Quart had their glory days back in the 1990s as a German manufacturer of quality audio components. But after being eaten by Maxxonics USA, well... quality has pretty much degraded. Their former engineers and management has formed a separate company called GermanMAESTRO. Now if I'm in for serious sounds, I'll go look there instead because talent and engineering is everything in car audio.

Dominations is an Indonesian brand with is owned by Wahyu Tanuwidjaja (yeah, I had to recheck my Facebook for his surname). Marketing is pretty good and so is distributor support. Their focus isn't to the cutting-high end but they make great speakers affordable to the masses. Couple that they actually publish T/S parameters, I have faith in their engineering versus generic brands who markets their products with "great tweeters! made of silk!" or something. Personally, I'm a fan of them especially their 2" wideband drivers.

Personal Disclosure: I'm using Focal and Audison in my car-audio setup before people start to think I'm own-brand-bias.

no experience with domination. mb quart narinig ko na, hindi matalas tumunog. maybe just audition both then pick what suits your preference. Kung pareho lang, pick the cheaper one.

    Try this simple set-up.

    Pioneer Head Unit (DEH-440BT)
    JBL GT5-S12 Subwoofer 12 Inches
    JBL GTO6080 Separates
    JBL GTO629 Coaxial

This set-up will cost less than 20K but the quality is priceless.

Ano ba ok na front speakers for 3k budget? 12 yrs old stock speakers kasi ito. Malakas na ba ang 250w? Hindi naman kasi ako soundfreak and para lang ito sa weekend car ko.

    Anything that fits your budget.

And don't underestimate 250W of power. But how loud it is isn't completely dependent on power. More likely than not, you should be looking at driver sensitivity instead as not everbody uses their power "reserves". The higher it is, the better for low powered systems

What you're looking for are general 2-DIN head units. There are many manufacturers to choose such as Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, the occasional JVC, etc. If you're looking at cheap, go for their lower-end units. However, these would still be in the 5-digits in their standard retail pricing.

There are numerous China rebranded head units too and they're cheaper.. *cough* CDR King hihihi *cough* Whether to go for them or not is up to you.

Walang problema as long as you aren't doing any hardcore setups. The AVT head unit has RCA pre-outs at the back which you can tap to connect to your amplifier.

Thanks sir, ive been backreading this thread though di pa ko masyado nakalayo. To add further sa noob questions ko, a club member is selling some of his car's audio components, specifically:

-Brutus hifonics mono amp and brutus hifonics subwoofer bundle (4k) ported box gawa ng mickey's

    -Alpine f450 4way amp (3k)

-All stinger cables and wires, sukat specifically for the lancer ex (3k)

Came from his sq setup (ported box though, compromise siguro for the deeper gumagapang bass instead of a sealed one)

Balak ko pakyawin na lahat and hingi konting discount, and just buy morel separates and tweeters and have the installation done by mickey's as well. Do you think this is ok for my starter setup? Are the items priced cheap or just so so? Or do you suggest just going for a 5 channel amp and buy a new sub with a sealed box from mickey's?

I'm not very knowledgeable sa car audio setups pa kasi, still researching on this pa. TIA for inputs.

As I do not know the condition of the items, it's hard to tell whether it's of-value or not. However, it seems pretty discounted na on my book. What you want to be careful of is the condition of the subwoofer because the subwoofer is often the subject of... playback abuse (ex. times na gusto mo lang talaga bumayo) and so chances are, its performance isn't what we call top-notch compared to before.

There's no problem for a ported box in a "SQ" setup. In fact, I love ported over sealed on the basis of efficiency. If you feel the tuned bass is too overpowering, just EQ it down if you could. Problem for most people is that ported boxes usually have larger space requirements and that comes at a premium for most guys.

The thing with subwoofers is that all of them are governed by what we call as Hoffman's Iron Law. It's infamous for being "iron" is because.. well, nobody has ever disproved it. It basically means you have three factors: 1) bass extension 2) efficiency and 3) a small enclosure... and you can just pick two. A small sealed subwoofer means getting 1 and 3. A very small sealed subwoofer (ex. under the seat subs) means 2 and 3. Getting a large sealed subwoofer means 1 and 2. A large ported subwoofer means 1 and 2. Between the three, #3 is very important for most people, #2 is less-so because power is cheap compared to the 1990s and #1 isn't much of a problem because getting bass is easy in a car environment.

Personally, I'll go get the package. It seems pretty attractive for the price naman. As long as they aren't lemons, they should perform admirably while saving a few pennies down the road. I'm a fan of secondhand amplifiers.. but not much for secondhand speakers. As for wires, it would be wise to also check for oxidation and other "imperfections" thanks to age.

Hi guys! A question, for simple budget set ups. Ano po ang bang for the buck na amplifier? Also dapat pa ba ako magpa deadening? Nag-upgrade ako ng HU recently then nagpalagay ng infinity seps, hindi parin ako satisfied sa sound (bass lacking) kaya balak magpalagay ng sub. Please paturo naman kung ano ang dapat kong gawin. Salamat!
