Probably the solvents in 845 - it uses very strong (petroleum?) solvents to keep the product liquid, which could conceivably dissolve tar - I've read of similar cases on other forums

My Collinite is still beading. Not as pretty as umi001's profile pic but good enough to leave just a few drops after sheeting with a steady stream of water. Nanosliq lang after every wash.

I'm experimenting with Microtex Tireblack on the windshield trim and the engine plastic covers. So far so good. Di na kumakapit ang dumi. Di naman namumuti.

I also applied 845 on the inner edges of the doors, the door sills, inside the hood and trunk, around the engine compartment, inside the gas flap, and other visible painted surfaces. I was even planning to remove the wheels and wax the inner surfaces but the looks-could-kill stare from my wife persuaded me to postpone that area to another day Mahirapan lang kumapit ang dumi masaya na ako.

*umi: probably the reason why 845's recommended on white cars. I still prefer a io over 840 though

*johnm: that's an off-label use for the tireblack! Hehe. It's a really good and durable dressing for the trim. Just a piece of advice, don't use the tireblack as an interior protectant - it's a bit sticky.

I think this was mentioned in the OC bible V2.0 hehe. Buti na lang di pa nahulog phone ko sa timba since I'm using it as a PDF reader while cleaning the car If it holds up I'll apply it to all the exterior trim. This should also make removing wax from the trim easier right?

Yep I have Microtex Sunshield for the interior. My retired bottle of Armor All has been demoted to wiper blade cleanup only

Oh, definitely agree that a proper cleaner wax/sealant is better at cleaning - KAIO and Poli-Seal are both fantastic.

*johnm - Try using your 845 on your exterior trim. Apply in a wipe-on, wipe-off fashion (do not let haze) - you might be surprised at the results ;)

Wilco ;) I transferred some of the 845 to a small lotion dispenser so it's handy to carry around. It's now a solid lump of white stuff with the cool weather we're having. Have to warm it in water first :D

Oh, one thing - it nearly always doesn't stain trim, but just in case - do a small test spot first, in a small, inconspicuous area, just to safe

hi, will not open another thread na.

would like to know which type/brand of car cover would you guys suggest? because we have a spare car that we only use 1-2x max a week. i remember reading somewhere not to use the PVC type cover as it is not a "breathable" material.

    thanks!

Very little orange peel on the panel - I'd love to get my paint looking like that, but I'm not about to sand factory paint, at least not without a paint thickness gauge Might try it on our beater Lancer itlog, though

Guys yung Elevo na watermark remover, is it really effective?

Or bili nalang ako ng "mas mahal" na brand like MarkV?

I saw both the paste Elevo and Mark-V Splash in use during the weekend, and the Mark-V product was definitely quicker. From what I've read about the liquid Elevo, it's stronger than the paste, but it still requires some effort to use - and it's also not trim or side-mirror friendly (and not hand-friendly either - seems like an acidic product, and application using gloves is high recommended).

Oh, I believe the above cautions about the liquid Elevo would also apply to Splash, as it is also an acid-based product.

for light watermarks, elevo paste. for heavy watermarks ,use the liquid version. important note, do not allow the liquid version to dy on the glass. wash immediately with soap and water. make sure to seal the glass after cleaning para hindi sayang ang paglinis.

Gents, fantastic thread. Maraming salamat for all the info. ... Question : ok ba yung turtle wax car wash with wax? Also, ok ba gamitin yung "spray-on while wet" wax nila? Any issues with using these products if i'm also using 'gloss and 'sliq? Thanks!!

You can do it with one of the rain repellants on the market (Rain-X, Rain Clear, Rain Away, etc.), or (my own preference) a good sealant, such as Opti-Seal.
