    Mga Sir,

Tanong ko lang po. MY car is a Honda VTI 2000.

Napansin ko lang pag mainit panahon at nasabay sa traffic bigla tumataas ng husto yung gauge nung temp from half nag reach sya ng bago mag Red Line nakakatakot. Normal po ba ito in any car na pag mainit will behave that way? or my problem car ko? Pag ganitong situation ano dapat gawin, I mean if you are in the middle of the traffic then tumaas gauge temp mo.

    TIA & God Bless!

    Check the following:
    1. Coolant level both radiator and coolant tank. btw, how old is your coolant? Its usually replaced every 2 years. Some extended life coolants can go as long as 5 years.
    2. Signs of rust sa radiator
    3. Is your aux fan working
    4. Any leaks
    5. You might want to get your mechanic to check your cooling system including your thermostat

    Hope this helps.

Chances are, your aux fan is defective. Which is why when the vehicle is moving, the temp is normal (the onrush of air cools the radiator), and when the vehicle is stationary, umaakyat yung temp gauge.

Check also your water level or leaks sa radiator or hoses. Pop the hood and gun the engine, and have someone rev it. Observe...problem could be easily solved from there

Check this thread you have similar problem. http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32326

Whats your mileage? Is it near 80,000Kms? This is usually the time to change your water pump.

    all their tips are correct.

i just want to add another thing: if you're more temp gauge is more than half, technically you're overheating. you don't need it to go up till the red line.

Sir my Milage is 85,000Kms..tanong ko na rin how much po kaya yung water pump?

God Bless!

precaution? hmmm. number one is bring tons of water and don't get stuck in traffic. or better yet, don't use it until you get it fixed. remember: YOUR ENGINE DETERIORATES EVERY TIME YOU OVERHEAT

    (1) gaskets and seals made of rubber loosens/burns/
    (2) your engine oil can get into your intake manifold
    (3) you lose compression

    do all of these:
check your radiator cap (if loose)
    check the radiator for water
check the aux fan (if it turns on when your temp gauge is at half)
touch the top your radiator (WARNING: do this at your own risk) if the top is cold even if the temperature in your gauge is at half or more, then you have a seriously clogged cooling system.
check if there's any water leaking from your water pump (tell tale signs are the leak and the rust outside).

85k in the odo right? you're car is due for timing belt and water pump replacement. choose a good shop, these kinds of jobs are delicate.
