Just got the free tint from casa with 3M BC sreies, kaso lakas ng reflection ng instrument panel light from the the driver side window and and radio panel light from the rear window at night ng Strada ko. Ano pwede ko ipalit dito from Solargard without the reflections?

Also, you should get a lighter shade for your windshield.

Since magpapa-retint ka na lang din, check the heat rejection rates if you do decide on something to maximize your purchase. The 3M BC is good enough though.
    sir fleas,

First time ko kasi bibili ng brand new car.

Appreciate your advice if ever may ibang color at shade na mas bagay. The objective is privacy and outside visibility. Thanks in advance.

Last question.

IMHO, the 5% visible light transmission series of several brands are dark enough not to be seen from outside. tapos tints with warranties do not cover double tint layers.

furthermore, if you are willing to pay for the extra price, why not go for the huper optik CS05, it's multi-layered already, quite thick and visibility from inside is not as compromised as having two layers of tints.

    just saying
    Hey *fleas2016,

Did not realize that I had left a discussion I had on this thread hanging -- for almost 6 months at that. Hehe! Anyhow, thanks for your reply. Allow me to put in more cents worth for discussion purposes:

I agree with the double chance of mistakes and double the price. Thing is, in my case, the first layer came free from the casa, so I was really just spending for 1 layer. Plus sayang naman yung 3M super dark na first layer.

5% visible light transmission being dark enough not to be seen from the outside. Not quite though, at least not for 3M and even Titanium/Platinum. I could still see into the van's and suv's windows given the correct light positioning and brightness. Anyhow, maybe for most Super black is enough. I was looking for black out.

Warranties. True agree on this too. Haven't needed to claim warranty on tint yet, so still lucky to have a good installer and lucky that the part of the roll he's been installing has been good.

Huper Optik. Well, it wasn't around yet early last year (or maybe it wasn't as well advertised) so I never really got wind of it.

Incidentally, I'm on the lookout for the darkest Super Black tint available locally. The suv needs some new window tint (sides and back) after 8 years. This time, however, not looking for double layers, which is why the darkest super black tint is what I'm out for. If the Huper will cost like double layers, then it's off the shortlist as well.

    Any suggestions?

*IMm29: you may try getting Solar Gard HP Supreme 6 with 4% VLT. price is cheaper than V-Kool and Huper Optik. plus comes with 5 year warranty.

    up lang po yung thread..

Mga Sir I'm interested in having my car tinted around 5% all over. Problem is I own a Toyota 1980 macho machine. My friends tell me that having it tinted is not the best look for the car. I do like the classic look of the car with it's clear windows and all. what I don't like is the heat getting in the car thru the windows and the lack of privacy. I know that 5% is not much but I think it's better than nothing. What is your opinion on this? BTW the car color is deep red, not sure if it matters.

*erwin.brion: do you mean 5% VLT or just 5% additional shade?

40-50% VLT will give you a clear look. see below.

    while 60-70% VLT will give you a super clear look. e.g. 3M CR70, Solar Gard LX70, V-Kool 70, etc.

try 3M Simulator to see the effect..

You could go medium black sir erwin if you don't want too much darkness inside.lolz.
If you're getting the 3M tint go for 3M color stable its 5 years warranty. Don't get the FX ST its 3 years warranty only and it changes color.

Sir Red_one and Gearspeed thanks sa reply..

Nice info sa VLT.. is that the gauge being used by all the brands or just 3M? I've decided to have the car tinted. Would schedule it next month. And would definitely go for the lighter shades. Thanks sa advise mga sir. I know this is not the right thread.. but any advise on where to have it done or better yet any recommended shops?

*erwin.brion: VLT is a standard parameter for all tint brand, along with TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected).

i suggest, mag-backread ka muna sa Solar Gard, 3M, Huper Optik at V-Kool threads dito sa Window Treatment section bago ka magdecide kung ano pa-install mo. madami dyan user feedback and photos.

    Window Treatment

for my ride, i use Solar Gard HP Quantum 37 on the windshield and front windows.. installed at Solar Gard Santolan branch.

Here is my own bad experience in motortown from a tint installer.

Itong si George the tint installer nagsuggest na sa iba ko na lang ipalagay yung tint(which is my idea in the first place).Sinabihan pa ako nung installer na "after nito sir wala na tayong problema ah".

it's best to have tint installed from an authorized shop and make sure you get the full warranty. example, my Solar Gard tint comes with 5 years warranty from Solar Gard Santolan branch for peace of mind.

What's the best car tint brand and color?
