UPDATE LANG PO NATEN ITONG THREAD. I have 1998 Honda Accord VTiL. As a backgrounder my car's AT was rebuilt about 6 years ago but lasted only 3 months (waste of money). I then had a surplus AT put in at Banawe. The shifting was not as it was used to with ocassional delays and "kaldags". But this was all they could do for my car so I paid them and was on my way. This tranny lasted for 6 years with the AT deteriorating early this year. It became unbearable that I decided to finally do something about it. I was contemplating on 3 options:

Option 1 - CASA Rebuilding - Here I will spend about P60K but this should be the sure way to go since this is "CASA" Unfortunately considering the year and value of the car it seemed unreasonable.Plus the fact that they will surely ask you to replace other parts to ensure quality and so that they can apply the warranty.

Option 2 - LUCAS Transmission - They offered P14k labor to rebuild plus parts which should cost around P12k. That's P26K of uncertainty.

Option 3 - AM Bulaong - He offered P15K replacement with 6 months warranty old tranny as trade-in. That's P15K on uncertainty.

So I went for the cheapest option but with the high recommendations in this forum as a backup.

DAY 1- I brought the car to Mr Alex last thursday morning (11am since my car was number coding) and his crew began dismantling the tranny. A new tranny was installed at about 5pm. Result - Same banana, Slipping and kaldags all the way. frustrated I Left the car for them to work on it again.

DAY 2 - Went back the nest morning and they have just finished installing a new tranny. Waited until after lunch and went for a test drive. Result - Same banana, slipping and kaldags all the way. So they dismantled the tranny again for the 3rd time, got a new tranny and they started installing the new one. Finished by 6 pm and went for a test drive. Result - The car was not slipping but when you put it to D it wasn't moving at all! Frustrated but with beliefe that the 3rd day is a charm I went home with my son.

DAY 3 - Was up late that night so I woke up at around 9am. Called Alex at abround 11am ans asked him if the car has been fixed yet. He said "Ok na sya maganda na takbo." I said to my self Wow! this I have to see. Went there at around 3pm got in the car for a test drive. Result - Wow! The car was running smooth and fast. I wasn't really expecting the car to run the way it was running now (since my last replacement). I had to give a big tip for the boys who dismantled the tranny 4 times.

I hope this tranny will last for the remaining life of the car. I was amazed on how Alex took the problem as a challenge for him, Only downside to the whole experience was the waiting and the dirty feet you get for the waiting when you wear slippers. I also anticipated that the boys might not be able to tighten all the bolts and screws properly so I brought the car to the nearest shop with lifters. My anticipation was right and I have 3 screws loose (stabilizer link, and I forgot the other 2) But all in all I highly recommend them!

Will be back for the ATF change.

Mr. Alex forgot my receipt for the 6 months warranty. Will just drop by one of these days. Thanks!

Problem: Slight delay changing from P to D or from N to D from stand still. When you step on the gas as soon as you change to D, the car will jerk and will hear a "tug" sound. Usually will wait for half a second and wait for it to engage into drive and then step on the gas.

Car shifts from all 4 gears without slipping or delay, and will shift on the right RPM depending on how much pressure you put on the gas pedal.

Car still has a lot of torque, just went to Tagaytay just this long weekend with the car fully loaded (5 adults with cargo) and still very satisfied with the pull of the vehicle.

Can anybody confirm that the problem might be a solenoid or a relay? I'm planning to have my ATF changed by a dialysis machine one of these days. But I'm not quite sure if the ATF they will use (Mobil1 or any other dexron III atf instead of Honda's expensive ATF-Z1) will help or just aggravate the problem.

I can live with the problem. I'll just make sure that I shift in D before the traffic lights go green, but I want to make sure that I'm not aggravating the A/T problem and will in turn be a costly repair in the near future.

Any inputs/suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.
    Hi All,

Just an update, I went through the ATF change using the dialysis machine during this long weekend (Finally!). It was done in Exalta in N. Roxas near the corner of Banawe. All I can say that it was worth it. The shift shock (slight delay changing from P to D or from N to D from stand still that causes the jerk when going into motion) was gone except when you do it on purpose (when on N, press on the gas then change to D, a big no - no), but in normal driving conditions the shift delay and shock was gone and the car feels it has more torque.

The owner of Exalta was adamant to buy the ATF-Z1 in casa, I bought 8 bottles (and now 4.4k poorer), but only 6 were used. The best part is you can see the condition of the old and new fluid when its being drained/replaced and by the time you see the condition of the old fluid, you'll ask yourself that why didn't you do this sooner. The "dialysis" machines were relatively new (not older than 2 yrs tops) and for 600 php the service was worth it.

The only bummer was the expensive ATF-Z1, that costs 550 a bottle. Well no one lives in perfect world and who am I to complain? I just have wish that ATF-Z1 was cheaper

    Just my .02 cents. Peace.

    Sir maraming possible causes eh:
    1. Pwede rin solenoid. Pag mabagal mag switch on ung solenoid at mag papasok ng ATF sa needed chambers, pwede mag cause ng Shift Shock.

That's fine. I used up 25 bottles of ATF to clear up the A/T of a Corona Exsior i bought before; the previous, first owner never bothered to change her ATF in the 55,000kms and 10 years she had the car (buti nalang low mileage siya).

Any other Automatic Transmission Specialist that you can recommend aside from AM Bulaong? Preferably QC area.

I have Nissan Altima, you need to drive the car to about 60KPH in D2 before it can engage to D4/D.

    Thanks.

Guys mention ko lang bad experience ko para di na maulit sa iba. I had my accord auto tranny fixed by bong06 but they were never able to fix it. Marunong sila magbaklas at magkabit but I don't think that they are specialist. Binigay nila sa akin ang kotse may jerk sa downshift and now wala pang 2 months nagjejerk na at cold start as if it was never overhauled. I spent 32k and it was not worth it. Ok sana kasi may 1 year warranty but para saan ang warranty kung hindi na nila alam ayusinb ang tranny mo? Iintay ka lang ng maghihintay. Ang masama pa nito bong06 is now unreachable. Just beware guys para di na kayo maloko.

I tried calling and sending a message pero di nagrereply at di sumasagot e. But the bottomline is not recommended sila talaga. On top of this, yung bong06 sya din pala yun. Pinopromote nya yung sarili nila. Di totoo na nagpagawa sya. Tanggap ko na loss ito. Sana lang wala na maloko.

My '94 Land Cruiser 80 A/T wasn't shifting to overdrive. It would only shift until 3rd gear and was really killing my fuel economy on the highway.

Fearing an expensive repair (a surplus A422F transmission costs around Php150k) I took it to Dr. G's Car Clinic in Selecta Drive Quezon City (accessed via A. Bonifacio avenue). Their guy Nestor checked all the connections to the computer box, the O/D solenoid and other associated parts. In the end it was just a wiring problem (thanks to the previous owner) and was easily corrected. I really admire how much time and effort they put into checking each and every wire from the tranny to the ECU instead of just suggesting replacing the tranny as most other shops would do.

The shop is primarily a Land Cruiser specialist shop but they work on all brands also.

Paps you may try Max Reyes (09172089786) or Boy (09105815076), in Banawe, marami na silang napatinong A/T from. Normally if hindi na makuha sa rebuild, they replace the whole A/T tranny using Japan Surplus tranies. Give them a call..

    Good Day mga Sirs!

Slipping na ba to mga Sir? many thanks!

    Car: 97 space wagon.

same question here. ano kya possible solution for slipping sa tranny???

mine pag umakyat na ng 3k rpm bigla na mag slip, (you may feel na para kng bigla naka nuetral at ayaw na magkumagat yun gear) so binibitawan ko nlng yun gas then when the rpm drops tapak ulit.
