    folks,
    i need help.
2003 altis' AT stick refuses to shift positions smoothly. changed the cable already, as the plastic bushing broke and the cable kalas-ed.
cable was replaced and the car shifts naman. but the stick still does not shift smoothly.
the gears shift as normal, naman.
can you recommend a specialist mechanic in MM ?
    thanks.

    Baka di tama ang paglagay?
Too much slack or too tight.

I can see on a yt channel na may grease na nilalagay on the bushing. Maybe that is what is missing.

Isolate the problem first.. remove cable fitting ang check the shifter, cable and the transmission actuator should move freely..

Check also the cable might be twisted during installation

Try Mario Comeda, shop is at BMA corner Kabignayan Streets, Banawe, QC.

    0921 265 1086/0906 246 1090

Tell him I referred you to him.

He converts MT to ATs so he most likely be able to help

After my recent oil change, Shell mechanic informed me na may leak transmission oil seal. Any recommendation? Is this easy to spot when the car is lifted?

^ The main and rear seals ba? Medyo heavy J.O. din iyan because if memory serves me right, I had to leave the car at the shop for a day or 2.

In my case, the issue showed itself when I noticed that there was a constant pawis on the underside of the car's tranny.

If the leak is still small you'll see it as oil/grime buildup on the outside of the leaky part, or if it's a big leak na then outright dripping.
Mech didn't specify exactly what or where? Transmission oil leak could be anywhere from CV axles, torque converter, pan gasket or main seals.

A good verification is a picture using a smart phone before cleaning the affected area. Personally, I always take pictures for myself and for the customer as evidence. I have used pictures in court for customer's ridiculous claims or avoidance in paying.

The type of tranny my car has? Nope. It has the traditional a/t mechanism.

A decent repair shop would check and make recommendations( might-as-well, MAW) operations. Parts have a time schedule when they need replacement. Parts dont last forever. Leave it to the vehicle owner to approve or decline. I advise customers that. If they decline, I make them sign acknowledgement to cover my 6.

The oil seal is not available at the dealership, they said 17 days waiting time. So they said you can get the car and just bring it when the oil seal is already here. So is this a case of MAW? I mean there seems to be no urgency at the moment.

I'm also thinking of getting another shop to look at it to verify the need to urgently replace. They also mentioned transmission pump oil seal, another MAW?

If one oil seal started leaking, they all ran through similar conditions, similar mileage and similar age. Major problems start with simple fluid leaks.

So maghihintay rin pa pala para sa piyesa. Akala ko ba instant ang supply ng original parts pag toyota.

Most of the oil seals for asian cars were made by NOK . The seal has part number embossed on the side used for substitution. Just verify the direction of rotation.

Update: after replacing the torque converter oil seal and the rear crankshaft oil seal, the leak is gone. Done by Tireman Ph in Trece Martires, Cavite. But I noticed the drive feel is different, medyo naging matagtag. The ride/drive feel after the first repair by Toyota Makati is better.
