It seems to be the norm among those who frequent NLEX/SCTEX/TPLEX. Do anything faster and you might get tagged then apprehended at the toll gates.

Alam ako up to 110kph pero siguro sagad na dun yung 120kph. Huhulihin na pag nakitang mas mataas pa dun yung takbo.

Speedometers are not 100% accurate. They may be off by around 5%.

Just doing 120kmh on the speedometer is fine on NLEX/SCTEX/TPLEX.

Depends on what size of tires the speedometer was calibrated to. Strangely, using the stock tires doesn't guarantee accuracy either.

Depends also on the tires you are running with.

If you replace the stock tires with tires that have different size, diameter, specs, etc. then that will have influence in the reading of your actual speed on a highway.

I've heard that there are devices that can detect speed traps. I wonder how much is it and where can you buy one.

The gps of the latest avt headunits found in many ppvs has a feature that can detect those speed radars when you're travelling there. It will warn you, saying 'there is a speed camera'.

Marami on Amazon for radar detectors, priced 5k and up. Unnecessary IMO - just turn Waze on, user reports already show you where the cameras are.

I've been driving on NLEX/SCTEX/TPLEX regularly for several years now and the location of speed cameras haven't changed. Luisita for SCTEX northbound, Dinalupihan for SCTEX Subic-bound, Sta. Rita for NLEX southbound.

The new additions are the fixed pole-mounted speed cameras in NLEX Mexico northbound and past the Bocaue tollbooth southbound.

By default, speedometer readings are about 5% faster than your true GPS speed if you have stock tires.

My 120 kph speedometer reading is 114 kph on my GPS. Using 225/40R18 tires (roughly the same circumference as the stock 215/55R16).

If you want your GPS and speedometer readings to match, use bigger tires.
