It's a business, and so long as they acquire it for the right price and are given flexibility in recovery of capex and opex, there's money to be made. What really killed the ability of MRT3's ability to properly maintain and upgrade was the ridiculously low fares that was set by government with no adjustments for over 20 years.

It is not the low fares that ruined MRT3. It is the politicians who ruined it.

The reason fares are low is because it is highly subsidized by the govt which is not uncommon. MRT operators receive additional money on top of the ticket value.

My Mom also asked me why the MRT is newer than LRT but it breaks down more often than the LRT. I did not know what to answer.

Bakit nga ba LRT hindi sirain?

Sirain din ang lrt. Mapanghi pa. Di lang nasa balita kasi ang service area nya is caloocan ,manila ,pasay. Far from the cbd.

Plus, ang news stations is along edsa. Labas lang sila, may balita na sila.

Yun nga eh. I used to ride the LRT going to school. Broke down only 3x during my 4 year stay.

    Eh mrt?

    3 to 4x a week before. Ngayon 3 to 4 x a day.
