    dapat itanong sa dating kay Abaya pano nila ginatasan ang MRT noon.

    Diba tuloy na ang subway sa edsa that will run the same route ng mrt? better i close ang MRT ng 1 month for a complete rail replacement as in dapat 24x7 ang palit ng track. nasan na nga ba yun mga riles na sinasabi na parating na wala na balita about dun.

    The antiquated signalling system that’s currently being used by the trains, which include a computer that uses a 5 1/2 floppy drive (technology that’s older than most millennials today), and a mainframe computer powered by an Ericsson CPU that utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor which he says was first made in 1979.

    The interface PC that shows the status of the line is also powered by a similarly obsolete machine – an Intel Pentium D with a whopping 256MB of RAM, running off of an older version of Windows XP.

    Many experts say that MRT was designed poorly.. the objective is to have an elevated railway like LRT 1 and LRT 2.. one thing in common to LRT 1&2 is the railway is elevated all throughout the line.. no going up or down slope like MRT. This is because of the "posh" villages in the MRT line that is too concerned of their privacy! Plus the anomalous maintenance contract! Add to that Makabayan and Mayo uno protest whenever there is a planned increase in fares.

    Hongkong may have the best in railway system but we also need to consider how much they pay per kilometer and their trains are also jampacked during rush hour. We get what we pay for

    That's why I'm not surprised. I just hope the subway system they're gonna build won't be done like the MRT.

    the mrt project running along edsa was fraught with politics.
    the original plans were altered to cater to certain interests.
    just like the proposed terminal involving trinoma and sm north edsa.
    we haven't learned from our mistakes.
    my opinion.

    An alternative for those who can't cope with the long lines and super cramped (or sardine-like) trains.. pero yung stops ay sa 2 stations lang (which coincidentally is in or near CBDs).

    Kaya they're doing this ay dahil yung trains ng MRT is not sufficient enough to serve the passengers during rush hour.

    Regarding private vehicles entering yellow lanes, bawal nga sila don especially kung matagal sila doon sa 2 lanes for buses. Pero paano kung papasok ka sa yellow lane just to turn to a street (i.e. turning right at Connecticut st.?)

    Sometimes I don't understand why passengers still insist on lining up at the mrt or lrt when there are already clearly hundreds in front of the line.

    I've taken the mrt for about a decade and there should come a point when you take a long hard look at the long queue and just say "fcuk it, I'm taking a bus".

    perhaps it is because, despite a 30-60 minute lead time for the bus, the mrt still gets them to the office faster than the bus?

    eggsactly.

    money and politics prevented us from taking advantage of some opportunities.

    these stations could have been located somewhere else and it could have spawn new economic activities. but no, we like to put these stations where there are economic activities already.

    i remember an urban train route abroad.
    a station was situated in the middle of nowhere.

    Apparently DoTR found out the hard way... even with escorts.

    Despite the lights and sirens of escorting patrol cars of the Land Transportation Office, the buses took one hour and 15 minutes to get from Quezon City to Makati, more than double the government's 30-minute target.

    The convoy was slowed down by heavy Thursday morning traffic on EDSA, with private vehicles still using the "yellow lane," which is exclusively for public-utility vehicles.

    Despite failing to meet its target, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the P2P's dry run, which had over 100 passengers in four buses, was a success.

    "Hindi naman tayo nakikipagkumpitensiya sa bilis ng MRT," said MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago. "Ang amin, mabawasan yung sobrang daming pasahero na sobrang tagal na pinipila sa MRT."
