For old cars, how do you check if the white plates are already available for pickup? Do you have to go to LTO Office to check personally? I tried what I saw in the internet, texting to 2600, "LTOVEHICLE + plate number", but no reply

i do not know what your mean by "old cars", but in my case, i already have the old green on white plates.
as i was renewing my car's registration (EP5), the person across the counter advised me that i had to go to this other branch for the paperwork. he did not say why, so my mind was racing with all sorts of unsavory scenarios. but when i went to the branch, they handed me my new replacement plates.
my other car naman (EP3), "no news yet".
ok lang, as i like the old green on white plates. more artistic.
if you refer to then-brand new car purchased by you some years ago and still no plates,
perhaps your dealer where you purchased the car from, can help you. or a trip to the LTO for inquiry...

Baliktad naman tayo. I kept checking the LTO online database for my plates since the site was made available but kept getting zero results. Then my agent called last Friday saying my plates were already available. I was only able to claim them today. When I got home and checked the LTO database (updated Sept 4 daw) I'm still getting zero results.
Car released 24-March.
OR emailed 14-April.
Plate available at dealer 30-August.
Try to approach the CASA po.
Most Sales Agent, hindi na nagaasikaso after makabenta.
Also, another department is handling the license plates.
Same with mine, tried to ask the other sales agent, hindi nila alam.
Yung agent ko, shes honest naman na no idea daw siya, she redirected me to contact number of the other dept that is handling the license plate.
When I did my PMS, pinuntahan ko na directly at dun, available na daw yung license ko.

Yes, after sales service is the responsibility of operations, same in real estate, kawawa rin ang ahente pag makulit ang client who does not know this fact, kapag hindi cooperative ang operations sa agent. Ung agent ko sa car at ung isa sa lote, napilitan mag resign because of this, hindi naman ako ang makulit but their other clients could be
Just came from the CASA a few days ago. sinabay ko plate inquiry and PMS.
I was able to talk to both my SA and their head of sales.
They do have a liaison person daw sa LTO na apparently wala pa sa kanila(makati).
My circumstance might be different since my unit was initially slated for a different dealer in QC but the Makati dealer under a different company was able to get the unit for me.
When i checked LTO database dun sa QC dealer naka lagay kung saan yung plates na deliver.
i informed that to my SA and hopefully maayos nila.
Di ba ang contract between the sales agent and customers ends only after delivery of the unit including everything that should come with it, i.e., OR/CR and number plates, and also whatever freebies. So it is still the responsibility of the sales agent to make followups for everything to conclude the sale.

The contract is between the customer and dealership. As Shadow mentioned, the dealership has a department which liaises with the LTO for the plates and that's why it is best to follow up with that department rather than the sales agent.
The contract does not end with the delivery of the unit since there are after-sales, warranty, etc.
that would probably depend on your relationship with the SA.
in my case, my SA always called me, "doc, nandito na plaka ninyo."
after all, he and the person responsible for the casa getting the plates, both work under the same roof. it is usually more effective in getting things done, to just walk into the office, than to call via phone.
Yes, I have always relied on my SA for everything about the car. From plates to scheduling/appointment of servicing, etc.

SA finally sent PDFs of the temporary CR and OR almost a month since they were submitted to the LTO. No plates yet.
Quick question: Is it now acceptable and/or legal to use some kind of metal frame on top of the registration plates?
All I want is just a way to protect/reinforce the plate, especially the one in front, as well as a means to hide the sharp edges of the plate and reduce injuries. I couldn't care less about the aesthetics.

dotc joint administrative order 2014-01.
"bawal".
anything that covers even a small part of the number plate, is not allowed. even clear glass or plastic covers.
BUT this applies only to the new (black and white) plates.
it is implied, that old (non-black and white) plates are not... included in the ban.
highs!
only in the philippines.

That's what I thought.
I asked because I have noticed a resurgence of these accessories on the road.
IMO, frames should be ok as long it doesn't cover any part of the plate number.
I do agree that acrylic or glass coverings shouldn't be allowed as it will interfere with the plate's reflective coating and eventually, the legibility of the plate number.
It is ironic that we're being punished for doing a good deed.
I think LTO is treating it like a slippery slope. Instead of defining the guidelines about what is acceptable, they just drew the line on the sand banning all of them... no questions asked. Trabahong Juan T.
My old, old car: This was taken a few months after the first time said accessories were banned.
