Hi guys I’m a newbie here…After doing some back reading this forum really kick *$$ very informative!
Anyhow got my FORTUNER 2.7G VVTi Silver Mica last month end of May and WOW! she’s a beauty. Herewith are some of my experiences with this mid size SUV…

While taking the car for a spin, I notice a clanking sound emanating from the front vehicle (thinking “oh no a loose suspension…”) and at the same time a rattling sounds from the backseats. The ride too is a bit bumpy but tolerable. After the drive I immediately check the car and to my surprise, the hood catch has a slack, found 4 loose bolts on the 2nd and 3rd seats and the tire pressure is way too high 38-40psi. After above problem has been rectified, I now enjoy a quiet and more smoother ride.

The engine is very responsive, while driving along NLEX heading to Pangasinan (Manaoag) I was able to reach a top speed of 155kph with the gas pedal at ¾ of its way but I quickly reduced speed not wanting to over stress the engine. I find the brake pedal deep whenever I step on it and brakes are a bit weak considering the size of the vehicle, so I have to do an early braking. Moreover the hand brake’s leeway is too much whenever I yank it up…Might as well have them adjust it on my 1st 1000kph check-up.

My current mileage is about 6-7.2km/l * city driving & highways
Overall I’m very satisfied with the Fortuner…Please do add me up to your list hehehe...

Got my 4x4 fortuner last week. Good thing i checked the tire pressure before leaving the dealer because i found out it was 40 psi. The guys at the releasing section were quite embarrassed when they saw me releasing air from the tires. Overall i'm impressed with the build quality, the quietness of the ride and the power and economy of the engine. Observed fuel consumption is around 10 km/l, 2/3 slex and 1/3 edsa. But the ride is quite jiggly and nervous on uneven road surface particularly at over 100 kph. My 99 trooper is more serene and planted on the road at high speed. Also on bad roads, the ride and handling of the fortuner can't compete with that of the trooper.

Nice ride and good choice, a VVTi variant and not the problem laden D4D. Kaya lang parang overkill ang horn po ninyo, isa lang nyan sakit na sa tenga tapos dinalawa pa ninyo. I just hope di kayo magkaproblema sa daan nyan.

By the way the good news is that there seems to be no more "pila" for the fortuner. And having been accustomed to driving manual cars and being partial to manual trannies, i can say that i'm beginning to like the fortuner's auto. The gearing at overdrive is very tall (less than 2,000rpm at 100 kph) which contributes to the quietness and economy at high speed. The acceleration kick at lower gears is fun.

Thank you sir apexi_66, i switch back to gas after 5 years driving a deisel.

Emission is much cleaner and quieter ride...

As for the horn, kasi maraming pasaway sa kalsada lalu na mga jeepney at

bus walang disiplina...It works for me naman tumatabi at minsan nabibigla sila

parang may malaking truck na dadaan sa tabi nila hehehe...
