m having reservations on installing the turbo timer. one of our friends went to thailand and looked for turbo timer made "by toyota for fortuner". he found none. all the turbo timers available in the market are made by aftermarket companies. why is this so?
bro vicoy, any insights on this?

The turbo timer manufacturer (in my case MICCON) would, of course, save money by retaining the packaging for the Vigo.
About the aftermarket company thing... When one says OEM it doesn't necessarily mean "Made by Toyota". It's like the OEM leather seatcovers for the Fortuner made by KelSeat.
Hope this helps shed some light...Last edited by vicoyski; January 18th, 2006 at 12:15 AM.

Even most in-house CASA accessories are aftermarket units wrapped in different packaging. The Mitsubishi tire sensors, Everest backing mirror, Expedition backing sensor, etc. Even the Ralliart wheels are subcontracted by Mitsubishi.
I'm guessing it's the same case with the Toyota turbo timer. It just pays to have it casa installed to avoid warranty issues.

bro otep,
there's none made or packaged as toyota product. the one i saw is made by an aftermarket company, designed for VIGO(locally HILUX).
my question is this: if the turbo timer is necessary, why toyota did not make such a product?
takot kasi ako magkabit ng hindi gawa ng manufacturer ng oto. please enlighten me on this. thank you.

Turbo timers are not necessary as long as you are patient enough to cool down your turbo.
But for those who desire convenience, a turbo timer is a good idea.
And cars have a life of around 5 years or so. After that, manufacturers expect you to buy a new one already. If you plan to keep your car longer and don't want to put up with turbo cooldowns, then a turbo timer is still a good idea.
