Mas malinis tignan nung wala yung sliding windows. And yeah, baka nga mas magandang wala yung sliding windows for safety purposes.
I agree, the aircons of today are more reliable compared to those of yesteryears. Nga lang, hassle talaga kung may mangyaring malfunction dun sa aircon tapos 18 kayong nakasakay.
Teka, 18? Dami ah! Got to ride sa 3rd row ng GL Grandia. Mejo matagtag nga. And you could hear that the engine is in-cabin.

Sir megatron,
5. ano ano po yung magagandang features ng Super Grandia? is 1.8M worth it?
6. magkano po ang inabot nyo? base price + LTO + insurance, etc..?
pwede po ba kayong mag post ng pics ng Super Grandia nyo.
salamat po!

whoa...dami palang tanong. kala ko isa dalawa lang.
anyway, i was able to ride a fully packed GL grandia a few weeks ago at grabe sa bastos ang driver. lakas humatak. no question.
my super grandia is around 3-4 months old, but barely used. i make it a point na hindi siya binabarurot. so regarding engine performance, i can say is that i have had no problems with it. it can pull a full load, despite having an A/T. but this thing is not built for speed, mind you. you'll get more speed in a starex, that's for sure.
driving position: i have not driven a starex before. but i have tried sitting in the drivers seat in the showroom. i am more inclined to say that it is not similar to a starex.
safety features: dual airbags, ABS, seatbelts for everyone. not sure what other safety features you are looking for.
magandang features of the supergrandia: hmmm. leather seats, 2 captains chairs, very roomy, dual sliding doors that have auto closers, DVD player - dual tv screens.
is 1.8 worth it? hmmm hard question. of course everyone would say that 1.8 is highway robbery. if i had my way i'd pay 200k for a brand new benz s-class.but since it is the only vehicle in town that can fit that many people comfortably, and is at the same time plush enough on the inside, i think it is worth it. much better than a GL grandia.
how much did it come out all-in-all? let me give you a tip: it is next to impossible to buy this thing COD. toyota allocated all their super-grandias thru their financing arm, therefore you are forced to buy it under installment. that's the only way to get one. 1.8 plus interest plus all the ek-eks come out roughly 2M. (2 years to pay)
post pics: sorry i haven't had any time to take pics of it, more so post.
i hope i was able to answer your questions. if you have any more, just post.

Just to add a little to megatron's inputs, based on some opinions I'd heard elsewhere:
- The GL Grandia was fun to drive to and from Pagudpud. According to the van's driver (my officemate's driver), torque was good and easily available. I think the manual tranny helped make the responsonse such. Then again, I'd agree that there'd be more speed with a CRDi Gen 3 Starex, at least.
pardon my ignorance, but what are auto closers? power doors na ba ang super grandia? tnx.

don't get me wrong, there are two types of door closers in the market now. both the highest KIA carnival and toyota previa model have sliding doors that (at a touch of a button) slide by themselves until the door locks.
the super grandia DOES NOT have this feature. you still need to manually pull the sliding door, but you DO NOT need to SLAM the door shut anymore. all it takes is for the latch to touch the mechanism on the door and it automatically SUCKS the door in shut. this is actually one of those small things that i think is cool. by the way, the supergrandia has 2 sliding doors that both has this feature.
another feature worth mentioning is that if you need space, the last row can be folded 50-50 and stowed like the last row of the innova.
another safety feature, it also has backup sensors that are very accurate.
hope this helps.

Oh, so those are what closers are. Nice feature. They're quite helpful, considering those are large doors. This is the new technology that I hope goes mainstream. I didn't think the Super Grandia had power doors (or else, it would have probably gone past P2M), but was intrigued by "door closers".
Haven't seen a Super Grandia up close. Closest I got was to a GL Grandia, and a converted GL Grandia with more captain's chairs than benches. But my friend has, and he mentioned the split folding last rows. They should've done that for the GL Grandia as well. That's a good feature for a van this size. At least, when you have to, you can load large cargo.
Thanks for your inputs
