Probably to make good use of the engine.

Messing up with the tires wont' be of much help (as previously posted).

Ahh, I see. Galing!

I also talked to a SA and they say that prices now are introductory only. Prices will go up by next year. Demand is increasing already. Nagsisimula ng humaba ang pila.

had another chance to check out the avanza 1.3 sa megamall yesterday.

maluwag talaga siya. in fact, I feel like I'm inside our old CRV gen1. yun nga lang may side impact beam ba ito? ang nipis ng side doors eh.

i'm really planning to get one pero not this year na siguro, kapos eh hehehe

i will replace the standard issue stereo with a stereo with lcd display screen. tapos papalagyan ko ng wood trims na mag-match sa beige color.
then change door locks also. later on, papa-customiz-an ko ng lalagyan ng Mac mini, para makapag computer na din ako.

good thing wala door handle sa likod. extra security. and also immobilizers, para hindi naman mapitik pag nag-park ako sa mga areas frequented by PUV drivers.

this will be my project car hehehe

...pero pwede naman siya buksan from inside or from the driver's seat?

it can only be opened from the outside by using your key or by a release lever under the driver seat

Yes correct 2 cooling coil, 1 compressor. Thermostat at the rear is controlled by the front thermostat. When you turn off the blower in front, off na rin sa likod.

The first released avanza in indonesia and malaysia nung 2004 walang side impact. I heard from the thread ng Avanza Malaysia marami na ang na improve and they told me merun na raw side impact. If you look at the brake system of the Avanza 1.5G you'll think merun syang ABS but what is lacking are the tire sensors lang. Hindi lang nila sinama kasi it will cost another P100K just for the sensors.

I agree with you guys. Its the law of supply and demand. Thinking that Avanza are CBU from Indonesia.

    Hi guys,

I had my first change oil. Talagang daihatsu ang base nitung avanza. the oil filter is daihatsu. 3.5liters lahat. oil filter is the same as camry 2003. if mahaba ang pila sa ibang Toyota service center, try nyo Toyota Dagupan dito sa Maria Clara near Dapitan. 30 minutes lang ako walang pila. Parang branch eto ng Toyota Dagupan. Covered lahat ang warranty. Plus you can view your vehicle and make sure hindi ka binabalasubas ng mga ibang mechanic. I have bad experiences with Toyota Service Center lalo if your not looking into your vehicle. hehehe

Redorange, OTEP thanks very much for your inputs.

I was playing with the numbers so on paper this is the engine speed and translated road speed for some toyota vehicles. Am just going to use 3,000 rpm as a given and assuming gears are at their highest.

    At 3K RPM:

    Avanza 1.3 MT = 85 kmh
    Avanza 1.5 MT = 90 kmh
    Avanza 1.5 AT = 108 kmh
    Vios 1.5 MT = 115 kmh
    Altis 1.8 AT = 132 kmh

Now I wonder if the avanza AT could be more fuel efficient than the MT version.

sir, napansin nyo po kung pano tinanggal ng mechanic ung filter? sorry for obsesssing about it, but the oil filter placement in the engine bay really looks awkward -- parang kelangan mo pa ng special tool to extract it.

yes. Kasama rin ako sa decision kung panu tanggalin. hehehe. maselan kasi ako sa kar pati damit nya ayaw ko sumayad sa fender. btw, he told me that prado, land cruiser vehicles e medyo mahirap din tanggalin. he has this special tool na pan tanggal. hindi yung chain type na oil filter tool. it looks like a claw that self locks when you twist it. there is little space for movement kaya this is the tool that can go inside the small space. from the hood nya kinuha. hindi kaya from the under. kasi pina lift ko muna then wala ako makita na space kasi nandun yung exhaust under and sa taas naman yung aircon pipes from the compressor. talagang from the top ang pag alis.

its really like a car. either from the driver side yung pag open or you use the key sa likod. i like it that way. pati mga guard sa mall hindi ko na pinapa open. silip na lang.

I plan to put 205/50/R17 BCC Chrome 5 spokes (btw pcd is 114). The stock is 185/65/R15. Do you think sasayad pag nag full turn ako lalo pag medyo 5 kami nakasakay sa Avanza?
My initial plan kasi was a Fortuner kaso medyo mainit sa mata lalo pag naka chrome na mags. I usually have emergency surgeries at night so I opted for avanza kaya lang gusto ko pa rin mags na chrome. I'll try to post the one I had canvassed. thanx.

Newbie here. Is it correct? The AT is more fuel efficient than the MT? I already ordered Avanza 1.5G M/T. I have a second thought now to change it to A/T. What are the disadvantages of A/T compare to manual? Pasensya na at wala talaga akong alam tungkol sa sasakyan. I know that it is more convenient to drive an A/T vehicle. Thanks.

Really can't say for sure if the AT is more efficient than MT. This is just an "armchair" analysis based on published gear ratios. It indicates however that the MT version operates at a higher rpm for a given road speed compared with the AT version. How that translates to lesser efficiency for the MT vis a vis the AT version in real driving conditions depends on many other factors (driving style, etc). Just thinking out loud. Am new to all this myself.
