    Your welcome.

    You are right that differnt countries get different versions. I just remembered that the manual says its equipped with ABS and there is an idiot light on the dash for the ABS, but the car does not have ABS.

    I may be wrong but I belive some countries only get the 1.3.

    Jack is under the driver seat.

    Saw a red Avanza J last night at a makati mall. parked my innova right next to it to compare size-wise. Avanza shorter by about a yard (less than a meter). Could not peek into the interior as it was heavily tinted but I noticed an imperfection on the rubber surrounding the rear passenger window - it looked like it was jutting out. I hope the G version has better fit and finish.

    avanza's made for the asian community. is it indonesian or thai? is the old toyota reliability still there in the avanza? this is a queation one wants to ask of made for asian vehicles. at the back of your minds you would think of a not so good standard quality just like what happened to the innova and the fortuner. hope the quality is not compromised here considering the big diffference in price range of the 3 models of avanza.

    I don't know if this will matter to most people here but I noticed the Avanza still uses an intake manifold whose opening faces upward.

    Now there's really no problem with that as far as driveability is concerned. But should the filter get soaked in water, gravity will make it easier for the water to enter the engine [and turn it into a bomb]. The end of the air intake itself is somewhere behind the headlamps so It's generally safe. Maybe it's the engine wash guy we should be more afraid of.

    DIY guys should also be careful while working on the engine when the air filter cover and air filter is off (e.g. when doing PMS). Drop a nut there and you'll drive yourself nuts.

    Lots of vehicles already use a side entry intake manifold and/or an air intake system which draws air from underneath the filter then into the manifold going upwards (as opposed to the Avanza which draws air from the top of the air filter going down).

    On a brighter note, there is good room in the engine compartment (especially in the front portion) to move around when doing maintenance or repair works.

    imho, medyo awkward ung position ng oil filter; doesn't seem like you can remove it without removing a few components first. katabi pa ng exhaust

    Update on consumption. Milage 450 kms. Route city driving, very heavy traffic around 6 km/l only. This is not an accurate figure as the car spends most of its time idling in stop and go traffic. It should improve a lot in normal traffic conditions and after it has been broken in.

    To give you an idea on how bad traffic is, my other car normally gets 5 km/l in the same traffic, it only gets 3 km/l.

    Have not yet driven the Avanza on the highway.

    Hi Userfriendly, how's the low end torque? Can you confirm if the avanza has weak low end torque but quite comfortable in high speeds? Thanks.

    If you mean yung hatak at low speed, its not a problem. Malakas kahit sa paakyat. At high speed, no comment cuz puro city driving fastest speed ko ay 80 kmh at sandali lang.

    * Karl, sana papi.

    Tumawag yung SA ng Toyota Ortigas sa akin telling me na may price increase sa January. I dunno kung bluff lang to para ma pressure ako bumili this December. Ayoko kasi muna maglabas ng money at baka wala kami pang noche buena sa Pasko. After the holidays talaga yung target ko.
