    2. None

    3. None

    4. No issues so far with the aircon and I hope it stays that way.

    5. Changed my front lower arm bushings at 32k kilometers. Spent around 4k for the 4 bushings plus labor.

    6. FC on heavy traffic areas like BGC is around 5 km/L, medium city traffic would be around 7 km/L, spirited highway driving gets me 10 km/L, highway driving doing only 80-90 kmh can do 12 km/L.

Go to HMS Auto Saloon in Banawe. They offer original and replacement bushings. Replacement ones are just 500 each and most say they last as long as original ones. By the way, Subaru uses the same bushing for the SG, SH, and SJ Foresters.

I had the bushings installed at Velocity Underchassis in Mandaluyong for less than 2k and that includes machine pressing of the bushings.

    3. Cylinder head gasket problem. Can be very expensive.

    4. Aircon problems. Kaya pala madami naka advertised na forester aircon condensers and evaporators.

    5. Bushings and other suspension and steering parts.

    6. And bad fuel economy.

    Looking elsewhere.
I have a forester xt. Bought it in late 2019. 25k in the odo. Wife uses it. City driving. Paved roads almost entire time except for a few usual bumps here and there. Surprised i had to change bushings and rack end.

    That soon?

Yes, their bushings are not that good. I had to change mine twice before it reached 40k kms. Then, I switched to aftermarket bushings. Ran it for 35k kms so far. No problems so far.

Re: fuel economy, it really depends on what car are you comparing it to?

My Subbies are around 4-5 km/ltr City and 10-14 km/ltr Highway.

Foreign consumer reports ang sources ko, for the 2009-2012 models.

Medyo nakakatakot yung cylinder head gasket problem. I saw 8 reviews reporting such. I've had a lemon car once*, e kung swertihin ako ulit. Lalo na i'll be buying 2nd hand.

Yung sa aircon even local sellers seem to be aware (or have experienced?) Huli agad, either they say "newly replaced condenser..." or say "trouble free aircon...". Parang sinasabi na ok na wala na problem yung ac.

*1-1/2. The everest was begining to exhibit weird signs that is why i decided to prematurely dispose of it. Usually 5-6 years bago ako magpalit ng kotse. 3 years lang yung eve sa akin. Napaso na takot na.

    2008 impreza 2.0 rs here.
    80k kms already.

    1. No oil consumption

    2. No oil leaks

    3. Cylinder head gasket problem.<~ replaced once, both sides. Mura part, mahal labor.

    4. Aircon problems. 2x evaporator, 1x thermistor

    5. Bushings and other suspension and steering parts. <~ seems like every 40k kms, i have to replace these...
Replaced power steering pump once at 20k kms, casa wants to replace my 2nd pump again at 60k kms, i didn't follow that. Still at my 2nd pump. (noisy at cold engine, normal when warmed up)

All shocks replaced at 70k kms

4 Wheel bearing replaced at 70k kms

Transmission fork replaced at 75k kms... How the heck does that break? My 1998 sentra still has those orig forks.

    6. And bad fuel economy. <~ awd, 2.0 is a bad combo in traffic

But despite all the things that broke. Still love to drive that thing.

At what odometer reading (or vehicle age) did the head gasket and evaporator leak?

mazda6 and the xv are rated reliable by consumer reports.

sure the older models are not as reliable but newer models tend to improve. example.. really old honda jazz... its improved over the years.

I wouldn’t buy an overpriced CUV for just its brand name. Given a choice between a Forester or CX5 over a RAV4 for the price they have now, it’s a no brainer unless I’m a Toyota fanboi.

Or maybe an Altis 2.0V over a Mazda3 2.0R, there is no question.

    '07 WRX
    Big turbo, exhaust, tune
    68k kms

replaced power steering pump at 40k

major work at 50k kms/10 years old:
replaced radiator (started leaking at the plastic end tanks), did thermostat and water pump at the same time to be safe
also did ball joints and tie rod ends

replaced shocks and top-mounts (fitted coil-overs) at 65k kms

recharged a/c at 68k kms. o-rings needed replacement, but everything else (evaporator, etc) was intact.

planning on doing timing belt and tensioner at 70k. already have the parts.

2018 XV. Replaced the evaporator 2021. Replaced the low-side hose and expansion valve just this afternoon. Kinabahan ako akala ko compressor na because it was making an unusual noise. Yun pala it was a symptom of low freon pressure already.
