Wow that’s comprehensive! Any particular known issues plaguing WRXs? I’m a total noob on Subies coming from a Mitsu family.

Unless the WRX you are looking at was raced at the track for extended periods or modded heavily, the maintenance checks listed by SpinCycle is common for a used car with a turbo.

Nothing really stands out as a major issue. But if the car’s been modified, you need to ask the mod list and check for issues related to those mods.

Oh and check the belts and water pump as well.

Just follow manufacturer's recommendation on periodic CVT fluid change....every 30-40k kms depending on use/abuse....Baby it if you're keeping it long term.[emoji4]

Subaru turbo engines have proven to be reliable but if buying used, just make sure you get one with no problems with its turbocharger.

Ask the owner for a detailed maintenance history.

I change oil every 6 months and it's around 7k KM for that period.

Your best bet would be to ask with the people from Subaru Club Philippines. (SCP)

    So far eto naresearch ko:

    1. High oil consumption, as much as 5 liters oil per 1500 km. That is like having an oil change every 2 months of normal use.

    2. Oil leaks from the oil pan and head cover.

    3. Cylinder head gasket problem. Can be very expensive.

    4. Aircon problems. Kaya pala madami naka advertised na forester aircon condensers and evaporators.

    5. Bushings and other suspension and steering parts.

    6. And bad fuel economy.

    Looking elsewhere.

Sir, are items #1-5 all based on local data or feedback?

Bushings/stab link are due to be replaced on my 2015 Forester. Currently at 27k kms mileage only pero makalampag na pag nadaan sa lubak or uneven road surfaces. Also had my EPS replaced at 20k kms which was under warranty due to clunking noise. Hopefully hindi ko na maexperience yung ibang namention.

Idagdag ko na rin yung isa sa mga common problems is yung steering wheel wrap which is sobrang dali mag peel. Had mine rewrapped sa seatmate.

With my 2016 FXT running 37k kilometer

    1. No oil consumption on my FA20DIT and I use 5w30 FS oil. I think the oil consumption issue is related with the EJ25 engine.

    2. None

    3. None

    4. No issues so far with the aircon and I hope it stays that way.

    5. Changed my front lower arm bushings at 32k kilometers. Spent around 4k for the 4 bushings plus labor.

    6. FC on heavy traffic areas like BGC is around 5 km/L, medium city traffic would be around 7 km/L, spirited highway driving gets me 10 km/L, highway driving doing only 80-90 kmh can do 12 km/L.
