Clutch game by Newsome and Erram gave the much needed lift. Sadly, Buenafe and Ravena we're not in their killer form this time.

Good game NU, you really played well. That was a very, very big lapse on defense of Ateneo (that lead to the crucial Villamor trey). The Final 4 fate of Ateneo now rests on... would you believe... DLSU (beating UST, and Ateneo has to beat UST too).

If UST loses to DLSU, both ADMU and UST will be at 7-6. And in this scenario, it is winner take all for no. 4

However, if the ADMU win over UE is forfeited, laglag na ang ADMU sa FInal 4

too bad the 2 studs of the team had a subpar game in arguably the most important juncture of the tournament for the blue eagles. but all is not lost because there's still a crack of a chance to get into the final 4. medyo madugo pero pwede pa din.

I say bow out like champs. 5peat champs Lalabas lang bitter ang Ateneo lalo if hindi all-out hoorah. If ever naman ma forfeit yun UE game crucial padin yun game na yun for UE/UST if sino papasok as number 4 assuming they both end up 8-6. In the beginning of the season Ateneo wasn't expected to contend anyway. NU ang team to beat. UST naman sumablay din but they retained most of their main players. DLSU got bigger. They played well this year even with all the talented bigs graduating. Too bad it had to be an off-court issue that ended our championship hopes.

Play like there was no tomorrow, have a great game with UST (who always has been a formidable and respected opponent to Ateneo), and bow out with their heads high. As they say, there is grace in defeat.

For now, the fate of the final 4 is in the hands of other teams (and the UAAP board).

Yeah, NU really controlled the pace and played good defense. I felt that the Ateneo shots were just too hurried/wala sa pulso and nawala yung seamless ball rotation. Not too many outside shots connected either so this kept the interior D of NU tight.

IMHO, if I were coaching the opposing team, I'd let him shoot as much as he wants from far out and deny his teamates the opportunity to score.

Yes, Romeo is a scorer but not a very efficient one as he tends to jack up a lot of shots to get his points.
