that trade rumor of Marion for Rashard is stupid. if we assume that Phoenix mgmt are not idiots (which is safe), there's no way...

    1. Phoenix doesn't need another shooter as much as it needs Marion
    2. Amare's back next year, but he doesn't rebound or defend as well as Marion, who can cover positions 1-5.
    3. Rashard isn't going to come cheap. the same writer said he was going to opt out of his contract and demand big bucks. if so, then what's the point of giving up Shawn's max contract only to replace it with another one for a lesser player?
    4. Diaw is amazing, but he and Marion take the pressure off each other. with Amare taking up space down low, and Nash + TT/JJ/Raja spacing the floor, both of them can freelance and create havoc.

the Suns don't need to do anything in the offseason - just draft for value (and defense), and get Amare back. remember that they came within 1 game of the finals without a 30/8/2 center. amazing.

If you’re wondering why Marion’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors, it’s because given Phoenix’s salary-cap situation, it’s believed that the team won’t be able to sign Boris Diaw and Leandro Barbosa to contract extensions as well as keep Marion around.

Yan ang sakit ng ulo ngayon ni Dolan, hindi naman basta ibabasura na lang ang mga high-priced contracts ng mga under performer na players nya (upon waking up in reality)...

    Anthony grabs Nuggets' $80-M offer

CARMELO Anthony has accepted a maximum National Basketball Association contract extension worth nearly $80 million from the Denver Nuggets, the Rocky Mountain News reported.

"It is a dream come true to be given a max contract," Anthony said of the five-year deal in a statement to the newspaper. "The feeling is incredible, and my motivation is at an all-time high."

Anthony, who has yet to make an All-Star team or win a playoff series, has nonetheless emerged as one of the top scorers in the NBA. He raised his average nearly six points to 26.5 last season, good for eighth in the league.

The 22-year-old still has one year left on his rookie contract. The extension begins with the 2007-08 season and its precise value will be established next summer by the salary cap.

However, it is expected to start at $13 million and be worth roughly $79 million.

The report said Anthony could have an opt-out clause after the 2010-11 season but that has not yet been determined. Anthony can officially sign the deal July 12.

A member of the 2006 All-NBA third team, Anthony has averaged 22.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in three seasons with the Nuggets, who drafted him third overall in 2003.

Anthony has led the Nuggets to the postseason in each of the last three years, but the team has lost in the first round each time.

"I want to take on a greater leadership role with this team and my goal remains to win the Nuggets fans a championship," Anthony said. "I look forward to being in Denver for a long time."

KG is not going anywhere. Cassel staying at LAC. Claxton from NOK to Atlanta. Peja and BobJax to NOK. Radman to LAL. How about Big Ben, will he be a Bull? Fisher to Jazz? Very low key offseason....
