June 14th, 2004 06:24 PM #1261It was widely expected that Jackson would change his starting lineup or rotations, especially after five of the Lakers' veterans -- O'Neal, Bryant, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher and Devean George -- had an off-day conference with Jackson in a restroom at The Palace, pleading with him to put his trust in them since they know his triangle offense best. But Jackson went with his usual starting five

June 14th, 2004 10:28 PM #1266Karl Malone and Gary Payton probably thought they would see the light at the end of the tunnel by joining the Lakers. You know what? They were right! There is a light at the other end of the tunnel except that its from an oncoming freight train!

coming from an LA native and a lifelong Lakers fan....
they are done. congrats to the Pistons. they are simply the better team, on both sides of the floor. i can't tell you how much respect i have for these 'no-name' guys and for Larry Brown who pulled it all together.
this series should have been a sweep except for a miracle wrought by one Kobe Bryant.
but the Pistons have absolutely dominated every single minute of this series. i'm very sad because we all knew this was most likely the end of an era with either Phil or Kobe gone (and definitely Malone/Payton) next year, the Lakers declining, and other teams getting much better.
i only wish we could have gotten one more ring before the window closed, but it was not to be.
i guess all us true Laker fans (not the bandwagoners who only like the teams that are winning at the time) have to wait and see what the offseason and the coming years bring. hopefully we'll be back in these Finals sooner rather than later.

Well, my favorite Wolves will have a decent shot next year... I think next year, San Antonio, TWolves, Grizzlies will be the favs on the west..
I wonder where Kobe will end up... if not in LA, where would you like to see him play?
Ako I want him to play for an Eastern team... Just to keep the "shooting guard/forward" domination of the east vs the big men heavy west... But kung sa west... I'd like to see him in Phoenix.
parang some of the countdown timers along taft ave manila, aren't functioning today... or am i...
