you can visit shops at cartimar or quiapo, present your budget then let them build it up for you. kasya na yang 20k. 29er's are more expensive to build up right now due to scarcity of parts, for beginners better to buy a built bike baka magkaproblem ka sa setup by buying wrong parts
my hardtail is a giant xtc team, my full sus is an intense 6.6 and my rb is a cervelo s2. i ride regularly every weekend.
my height is 174cm and my hardtail frame is med. pagpunta mo sa shops try different frame sizes. ano ba height mo? better to get the right frame size kasi
I beg to differ bro. Frame geometry, frame size and frame material has lots of effect on the quality of ride.
Wheelbase is affected by frame size and geometry. Bikes with short wheelbase are known to be more agile but less comfy.
That is the reason some MTBs and road bikes costs more than $10K. But as with most things, your bike is as good as your weakest link.

I'm also on mixed trail, hard pack, pavement, road. Supposed to be naka march yung tires mo sa trail mo. Pag naka knobby ka, medyo meron drag pag roads dahil Hindi continuous yung transition sa center pattern (designed sya for better hook up and shedding). No holy grail sa pag pili ng "all rounder" pero I try to find the best setup.
OT na, sorry. Sa TS, here's my bikes :
Magumpisa Lang din ako sa 20k, pero I would like to warn you, mabilis ka magkakasakit ng "upgradetitis". After a while, magkakaron ka na ng second bike na galing dun sa pinag upgreade-an mo, hehehe
i agree with you. but fork, wheels and group have a bigger affect, and assuming the poster's reply which i quoted, he was choosing two frames both below or around Php10k and no description of what fork or groupset used. so the difference he might have felt might not be from the frame but bec of different setup
hehe i also came to a point of looking for the best trail tire too and eventually gave up. since my handling skills increased, any knobby tire is acceptable except only on pure dh runs. im using maxxis xmark on my xc and minion dhf/dhr on my long travel bike.
you said it bro! upgradititis! common na sakit yan hahaha more common than the common flu sa mga bikers

yes, i admit i am a womanizer and have a terminal case of upgradetitis
I find that most bikes I see are over-engineered for the trails/roads they're used on. Bibili ng mga long travel AM/Enduro bike tapos Timberland or La Mesa lang naman ang rides. Or worse, ikot ikot lang sa UP or MoA.
Yung iba parang pang status symbol lang. They get the most expensive bike that they can afford but rarely do they get to make the most out of their bikes. But they do seem to have a lot of fb posts about their rides.
I guess it's the same deal with people buying SUV's to look rich/pogi.
