December 4th, 2017 04:14 PM #23Good thing may pedia advised against immediate dengue vaccination precisely due to the reason cited in the report.
Galing talaga. Sabi niya mukang effective ang dengue vaccine kung nagka-dengue ka na before. It is like the anti-bodies or whatever you got from the first infection is boosted by the vaccine. Pero kung hindi ka pa na-dengue tapos turok ng vaccine, there is nothing to boost. Kampante ka pang maglalabas hehehe

ganito explain sakin ng isang nerd friend
dengue meron type 1 2 3 4
pag na-infect ka for the first time (let's say type 1), your body will fight it and you'll recover fully
so meron ka na antibodies against type 1, and you also get some protection against type 2 3 4
but over time, protection against 2 3 4 will wane
but protection against type 1 will remain strong
then na-infect ka ng type 4
yung type 1 antibody can still recognize type 4 but doesn't give enough protection
but your body thinks the type 1 antibodies are handling type 4, keeps on making type 1 antibodies but type 4 isn't being neutralized
so the virus goes on replicatingLast edited by uls; December 4th, 2017 at 05:11 PM.

it just seemed rushed no matter how you look at it
Sanofi probably pushed the vaccine to us and somebody on our side had incentive to make the deal happen

Sanofi invested 20 years and a lot of money developing the vaccine
Naturally they had to recover their investment
So syempre they had to push the vaccine to dengue-prevalent countries
Selling the vaccine through doctors would take forever
To make large million-unit sales they had to sell the vaccine to governments for mass immunization
