Bitter pill to swallow...kesa kumalat yun virus. Short term pain. They need to find a cure first before opening up China again to the world.

iisipin ng masa "gumagaling naman pala"

    bawas panic

    wala eh

Shut down pati mga ports kaya walang shipment.

I'll ask from time to time yung contact ko sa China kung nag start na ang mga custom/ports or hindi, kasi sa pagkaalam ko, it should start Feb 1, so maybe delay lang ng a few days.

most important China ports are Shanghai, Shenzhen, Ningbo-Zhoushan

if those ports are shut down... serious stuff.... it's gonna be very bad for global commerce

Mga toy collectors of die cast and Funko Pop are worried that new releases will be harder and more expensive since shipments coming from HK will have to take a detour... or none at all.

BREAKING: 8 patients now under investigation for new coronavirus – DOH | Inquirer News

    Contained! Under control!

If we're gonna based how the government handled the African swine flu then we're all screwed!

But yeah, we're screwed. Sino nga ba nagsabi dito na until someone (or their family) high up in the government suffers, walang mangyayari

1st death outside china. i'm not really surprised it's here

i do wonder how well the san lazaro hospital can contain the virus. are they even wearing full body suits? probably a good chance that the medical staff are already infected. and probably their immediate families as well

oh and remember that "foreigner" that collapsed on the street? his personal belongings have been stolen. so if he's infected then the virus is already spreading in some slum in manila right now

then there's the missionaries from china who got admitted to a certain hospital in central luzon...

i'm pretty sure the virus is all over the philippines already

so protect yourselves. don't wear those stupid surgical masks. they don't seal well AT ALL so they let unfiltered air in. get FFP3 rated mask with exhalation valve so minimal moisture buildup inside. ffp3 masks have additional rubber gasket that seals against your face as well as higher filtration efficiency

I'll say something. Just this once.

Galit din ako dati, so I understand where the hate is coming from, and I’m not taking a self righteous stance here.

Even relatives in Taiwan would roll their eyes when talking about their dealings with some (some) of the boorish folks from the mainland, kahit naka Channel, LV at Seamaster pa ang mga gamit (genuine/originals). Marami kasi dun, mga taga probinsiya who suddenly found themselves wealthy from China’s economic boom, kaya dala pa rin nila yung mga bad habits from the time when they were living in shacks. Mayabang pa, kasi may pera na sila, and lots of it. (Beverly Hilbillies ba)

When Mao imposed his disastrous “Cultural Revolution” the country went crazy. Goods and services were in short supply, and for the regular man on the street, if hindi ka makipagunahan, makipag-gulangan for the little that could be had, wala ka nang aabutan. Nasanay sila ng ganyan to survive, so pansin mo, some of them don’t know what a line is.

Just a month or so ago, I was boxed out by five middle aged women from the mainland trying to take a group picture at a shrine in Japan. The one closest to me mumbled an apology in Mandarin, and I instinctively replied in Hokkien: “Mmien” (“it’s nothing, or wala yun.”). After certain scandalous incidents became public:

--Tinapunan ng cup noodles yung flight attendant
--Pictures ng kababuyan (ng mga ungas sa kanila) na ginagawa sa mga attraction at sa eroplano
--Sapakan sa airport/ dept store, etc.

Naphiya ang govt sobra kasi kahiya-hiya naman talaga yung mga pinag-gagawa, so nag-crackdown. Mas aware na sila ngayon na kailangan din nilang makisama. The kid who scribbled on a Egyptian temple was mercilessly hunted down, not by the government, but by the common tao, and bullied incessantly until his folks publicly apologized and disciplined their son.

It’s a country of 1.4 billion people. There’s a lot of people to educate, and a lot of conditioning they have to unlearn, but the ungas ones (repeat, yung mga ungas) among them will, in due time. China was already a great civilization back when some peoples of the world were still living in caves.

And no, I don’t “love China”, ang yabang at bully ng gov’t nila just because they have money and power now.

It is better to try to understand a person than just hate kaagad.

If some mainlander would do something vile sa harap ko (or anyone, in that case), I’d kick their a** too (tapos pinsan pala ni Jet Li…)
