Would be great if they can share their safety and treatment protocols in their hospitals.

if our resources are limited, we have to do some triage.

    come to think about it,

My wife and most of my friends are doctors. They are frontliners but they can't even get tested even with exposure.

The requirement for them is exposure to a PUI + moderate to severe symptoms. Otherwise 14 day quarantine ka lang.

So it ticks me off when I see privilege at play even for something as critical as this.

A person with fever or pneumonia or organ failure will be treated as a one-off or regular patient. Those are common illnesses anyway. But what you miss out when you don't test is the additional caution of contact tracing, so you have no idea if that patient could have infected others.

Pati yung mga doctor na nagtreat sa patient - you cannot officially tag the doctors as PUI if the patient they're treating is not a confirmed case. So kawawa sila they are working as if PUM lang when there is a very real chance that they are carriers already and can infect an entire service.

Half of the service of one department in one of the covid hotspot hospitals are now under quarantine and are at risk because 1 patient was unknowingly positive for covid - late na nalaman because hinintay pa maging severe yung symptoms before testing.

Net, in the triage phase palang, iba ang SOP for confirmed covid patients vs others with run of the mill cough/colds/fever.

Usually these cases progress and they die from pneumonia. However these aren't tagged as covid-related deaths.

What's the difference in treatment between covid positive and non covid positive patients suffering from pneumonia like symptoms?

Patient 129 -- relatives found out that he tested positive for the virus through the internet because no one in the hospital will confirm if he was positive.

Dad Was PH129. And We Found Out on the Internet

"On the morning of March 11, my mother-in-law informed us that Yeye had dry cough and a fever. They went to a testing facility, but were eventually directed to a hospital where they spent nearly the entire day in the emergency room. "

"No one said it was the dreaded coronavirus. The only thing we knew was that it was pneumonia and was being treated as such."

"The test was conducted on March 12, but the results would take time. Until then, we had to pretend that everything was normal—work as always as we self-monitored and self-quarantined—as if our lives were the same as it was a week earlier."

"On March 15, we still didn’t receive any notice about the test results."

"Eventually, nurses said they weren’t allowed to release any information. The doctors were unreachable. "

"My mother-in-law just decided PH129 was Yeye."

"As with any crisis, connections are more valuable than gold. I asked doctor friends who knew people from the hospital. My mother-in-law did the same. Through this, we finally received confirmation."

Perhaps covid positive patients in PH are given more intensive care/supportive treatments.

Yes, the outbreak in Italy has little to do with its demographics and culture. It's mostly because of the Italians hugging those goddamn Chinese.
