    and because of new variants

one infection and the whole family gets infected (sounds familiar?)

Udwadia has anecdotally observed that entire households are now getting infected — unlike in the first wave of COVID-19, when single individuals would test positive. He attributes this to the presence of more-infectious variants. “If one person in the family has it, I can guarantee that everyone in the family has it,” he says.

India's rickety healthcare system couldn't handle the surge

300,000+ cases per day with positivity rate of over 30% suggests they have far more cases than reported

More trouble for Sputnik: Scientists back Brazil over Russian COVID-19 vaccine import ban | Inquirer News

"Scientists have backed Brazil’s drug regulator’s decision to stop the import of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine on the basis that batches they tested carried a live version of a common cold-causing virus."

    Live virus? WTF!

Are we doing testing here locally for vaccines that arrive?

Salot talaga itong CHINA WUHAN VIRUS

Scientists back Brazil over Russian COVID-19 vaccine import ban

WASHINGTON — Scientists have backed Brazil’s drug regulator’s decision to stop the import of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine on the basis that batches they tested carried a live version of a common cold-causing virus.

Top virologist Angela Rasmussen told AFP the finding “raises questions about the integrity of the manufacturing processes” and could be a safety issue for people with weaker immune systems if the problem were found to be widespread.

Russia’s Gamaleya Institute, which developed the vaccine, has denied the reports.

The issue centers around an “adenovirus vector” — a virus that normally causes mild respiratory illness but in vaccines is genetically modified so that it cannot replicate, and edited to carry the DNA instructions for human cells to develop the spike protein of the coronavirus.

This in turn trains the human system to be prepared in case it then encounters the real coronavirus.

The Sputnik V vaccine uses two different adenovirus vectors to accomplish this task: adenovirus type 26 (Ad26) for the first shot, and adenovirus type 5 (Ad5) for the second shot.

According to a slideshow uploaded online, scientists at Anvisa, Brazil’s regulator, said they tested samples of the booster shot and found it was “replication-competent” — meaning that once inside the body, the adenovirus can continue to multiply.

They added that this had likely occurred because of a manufacturing problem called “recombination,” in which the modified adenovirus had gained back the genes it needed to replicate while it was being grown inside engineered human cells in a lab.

COVID was once a sosy people disease. People who travel abroad were the initial victims. Tapos yung mga circle of friends nila and relatives na of course sosy din.

Then came the opening of the economy and the more contagious variants.

Hard lockdown for 2 weeks PPC all because of APORs and LSI na hindi na nirequire ns 14 days quarantine. Unlile last year nung umuwi relatives ko 2 weeks talaga sa hotel at sinabi na 1 week ulit na bawal lumabas sa bahay (ito siyempre wala na monitoring).

Kaya lang too late na tayo, kalat na. Sayang lang talaga lockdown last year.

Australia’s biosecurity is tops in the world that they can easily adapt to this situation. Sa agriculture lang nila, they do not like importing fruits or vegetables for fear of introducing plant diseases & insects into Australia that can wreck havok into the industry. Same with livestock. But they do allow some importation, like our bananas & pineapple but subject this to stringent control measures. Their quarantine rules are among the strictest in the world (I think only Israel matches it).
All these are coming out from the top of my head now from what I know & remember.

Madali enforce yan. Allow movement & access only to those with vaccination cards much like what happens with quarantine passes. Hindi mandatory but, if they want to enter banks, travel, malls.... they have to have proof of vaccination.
