My cousin dropped by at my house today, lahat daw sila (at least in their department) sa SLMC BGC sinovac. He showed me a test yung neutralizing something done at SLMC, nakalagay din reactive. Test was done one month after the 2nd dose ata.

Naku Cathy, they might be carriers of covid and they don't know it since they're vaccinated already. Did you let them in your house?

    Monseratto's post

    red circle mine

Notice something sa receptor binding domain (RBD)?

there's no N501Y mutation (the very famous Nelly)

there's only E484K (the notorious Eek)

there are 2 mutations sa N terminal domain (NTD)

significant yun kasi NTD is also a target for antibodies

ung D614G matagal na yan last year pa

Don’t take it literally. Term lang yung immunity. The virus is there & is very contagious.
Currently, it affects everyone because we still have no antibodies against it. We have no natural immunity so a lot of people die from it. But there are some who survive & develop an immunity while there are some whose immunity is strong enough to hold off developing the disease? The goal is to make everyone strong enough to be resistant to the disease.
While the virusis is around & will forever be around, it will not get a chance to kill anyone anymore because our bodies are already primed against it should it enter.
Now, no one is built the same. Some are stronger than other unfortunately, with other diseases (comorbs) that makes the defenses weaker so the virus has a better chance of winning.
Our bodies are bombarded with thousands of different infectious agents daily & are good enough to hold off almost all of it.
I wish it were that simple, to defend against this killer but, it is not. So the challenge now is to find the most effective way(s). Which why these vaccines are being developed.
These things are very complicated & very hard to explain. Even regular doctors, unless they are infectious disease experts or molecular microbiologists, will have a hard time explaining it in detail.

scientists focus on the spike gene (S) coz that's the part of the virus that attaches to our cells

and that's what vaccine makers use -- all the Western vaccines present the spike to our immune system and make antibodies that attach to the spike

lahat ng mga vaccines used original Wuhan variant spike

changes to the spike can make new variants less recognizable or barely recognizable to antibodies

Inunahan ko na, when he asked if he could drop by, sabi ko hanggang garden lang :P I feel bad nga because I could not serve him food or drinks (pero pauwi I sent cookies naman) Nakita nga niya may dumating na delivery and I sprayed everything with alcohol, tapos dun sa receiving area ko may mga nakabilad sa araw and he made a comment na sobrang delikado ko daw LOL

    in theory yes

    -

after you get sinovac, ang antibodies mo more or less tulad ng antibodies ng mga nag recover sa covid

ung antibodies found in convalescent plasma

As usual, yung dapat sana nagpapaliwanag eh kurapsyon inaatupag kasi.

Pera may neutralizing antibodies pa sila for 6 months. Conflicting.
    DOH are policy makers unfortunately.

Ako kasi hindi pa eh (after a week) .

[emoji16]

well... people who recovered from covid have antibodies so maari protective yan

    but those antibodies fade

antibodies generated by vaccines should last longer than antibodies generated by natural infection

    -

baka noong nagpa-swab sila lumampas na sa time frame when the virus was present in the nasopharyngeal area

to find out if you got covid in the past get an antibody test

this is pretty consistent with inactivated virus vaccines

    ung efficacy level

    can't compare with mRNA vaccines
