What I find very suspicious is why parang ang dami pang available na beds, whereas when you check out the hospitals eh over capacity na. A friend told me na yung kakilala nyang hospital owner reported 100% full, but DOH counted each of their beds twice so lumabas around 50% pa lang sila.
They may be running out of covid negative staff. Having enough rooms is one thing. Enough HCWs to take care of each patient is another.

What's in it for hospitals to falsely report full capacity? If there is something to be suspicious about, it's the delay of this government in procuring vaccines.

Nagrereklamo ang ilang business, they don't have problems with ECQ extension pero mahirap ang per week basis na extension. Mahirap mag plan ng long term for business Kung per week ang decision.

You didn't get what I was saying, and maybe I wasn't very clear. "Ang dami pang available na beds" was referring to the information as presented in the DOH infographic.

I'm not blaming the hospitals or saying they're falsely reporting full capacity. I'm saying the DOH is fishy for making it look like there are more beds than hospitals actually have.

I trust the hospital owner because he's on site and knows they are full. We've also heard numerous reports and have seen pictures of patients being left to dry in hallways because every hospital is over capacity, and yet the DOH is still saying 80% occupancy pa lang tayo for ICUs, 72% for isolation and 59% for wards. That's what's fishy.

    This is fishy:

Are there any scientific study done on face shields providing more protection? I'm pretty sure most Pinoys don't sanitize these after going out from their homes. They'll just throw around these shields anywhere like some ordinary hat. An excellent way to spread the virus inside at the workplace and homes.

More on this from Deakin's post on this question with Doctor Robbie Meriales

I think were the only country in the world that mandates the use of face shields, so I doubt there is a scientific study regarding its effectiveness.

Based on the answer of the Doctor, we should probably sanitize our face shields more often since we have to wear it whether we like it or not.

Despite all there *protective* gears we are required to wear at public places, the infection rate is getting higher everyday!

Is it covid fatigue that's making people put their guard down? I think so.

Is it due to the more infectious P3 variant. I strongly believe so.

Is our government so incompetent on dealing with the pandemic that the only best strategy they have so far is a lockdown? No doubt about it.

Just think about it. After one year our government doesn't have a systematic approach to contact tracing. And only now that they are addressing the problem on the lack of medical facilities for a sudden spike.

This covid pandemic is just a fraction of other future bigger problems this country will be facing. Good luck to the most blessed country at the far east. We need more than just feeling blessed...

Ayaw pa sabihin na until end of April talaga and best bet for reducing the infection rate.

They are building more isolation facilities. I wonder how will get more man power for those. Or will they just add more patients per HCW.

Yup, BS yang hospital capacity ng DOH. They base it sa directive nila na 20% bed capacity of a hospital should be turned into a covid bed. Now due to the surge, they’re making it 30%.
Hindi lahat ng hospitals kaya ang capacity ng 20-30% covid patients kasi need special rooms, wards. Kulang na rin mga ventilators and high flow oxygen equipment sa hospitals.
Kulang na rin manpower na doctors and nurses to treat and monitor.
Tapos in the end, hindi magbabayad ang philhealth ng reimbursements na milyon milyon sa hospitals.

Good question. But one more thing plaguing the health care system is the dwindling manpower. Everytime a hcw gets covid, maski mild signs lang, they have to Q for 2 weeks. Kinukulang at no reserves talaga, even with facilities.

Apologies for misunderstanding. I agree the DOH data on hospital capacity can't be trusted. During the first sharp spike in infections last year we had a hard time finding any hospital that would take our friends and family members. They had to wait for days. That was despite the DOH dashboard showing around 20% free capacity.
