Always bear in mind that wearing of surgical face masks, whether cloth or paper, is to protect others around you. You won't spread whatever contaminants you have in your breath.

If you want to protect yourself, wear at least a N95 mask, but make sure it fits snugly around your face so air won't leak in and out on the sides and edges. So air will only pass through the mask itself, effectively filtering the air you breathe.

There’s a large study sa isang US hospital for n95 vs surgical mask ng HCWs.
Conclusion: n95 users had 7% infection rate and surgical mask users had 8%.
No significant difference in a infectious ward.

Even some surgeons are still using surgical masks while operating on noncovid and non-GA cases.
Surgical masks of high quality can filter 80-98%.
IMHO, surgical masks are definitely safe for the general public.
Even better if patungan mo ng cloth mask ang surgical mask- becomes 95% filtration.[emoji4]

About double masking, Dr. Fauci warns about using 2 surgical masks. Air flow through the masks is severely restricted that air passes through the gaps instead. Alternative is to use a cloth mask over a surgical or N95.
