Did some quick computations to see the breakeven point of the iStop system:
Assumptions:
- iStop battery is 13k, normal battery is 4k (9k difference)
- Average replacement time for a battery is 2 years
- Average distance travelled per year is 12,000 km
- Average consumption for a CX-5 without iStop is 8 km/L
- Gasoline price is at Php 55/L
With these numbers, you will need an improvement of 0.46 km/L to offset the additional cost of the special battery.
Ergo, if your iStop CX-5 does 8.5 km/L in the same conditions that a non-iStop CX5 only does 8 km/L, bawi ka na.
To generalize, you just have to be 6% more efficient to offset the cost, and I believe the iStop CX-5 can deliver an incremental efficiency of over 6%.
So to sum it up - DON'T be dissuaded to buy the CX-5 Pro just because it has an expensive battery, because it's worth it.

April 13th, 2014 04:54 AM #1475My dad usually does 11km/L in the city since he has a really light foot plus he knows how to control acceleration and deceleration. 10km/L ako more or less without really trying hard. For twisty, hilly, dirt-road areas that we travel to on weekends, we get 9km/L. Mixed is currently at 12km/L (60% city, 40% highway)

Hi All, tanong lang regarding istop - kung nakastop sa traffic, pano yung aircon? i guess mamamatay rin yung compressor pagnagshutdown yung engine. yung blower rin ba mamamatay? tama ba? regards

Blower stays on using power from the capacitor I guess. If interior temp goes below the set temp on the climate control the engine will restart.
