Please bear with me....
We replaced the split-type A/C in the bedroom because it developed a leak that no technicians were able to find or fix. Long story short, the new A/C is installed and that's the end of the old A/C. However, the air flow doesn't quite reach my side of the bed.
I sleep on the side of the bed near where the split-type A/C is, while my wife sleeps on the opposite side. On the old A/C, the vent louvre's movement has a lot more range and can reach my side of the bed, even down to my nightstand, without issues. We set the A/C at 26°C for comfort cooling and energy efficiency. That said, the louvre is set to Auto and I am accustomed to direct cool air reaching my side of the bed.
The new A/C however, has a lot less range on the louvre movement and maxes out about halfway on the bed. The wife is getting the cold air while I'm borderline sweating. It eventually get's cooler throughout the evening but it's not very conducive when you're still trying to fall sleep.
Question: Will those add-on/clip-on air deflectors I see online address my situation? This item in particular... https://shopee.ph/Air-Conditioner-De...0-141be0fbc899
Here's a rough illustration to help visualize what's going on....

Had a eureka moment last night.
The louvre is operated by a stepper motor and the aircon logic module controls it. Every time the A/C is turned off, the louvre resets to its Home position, which is closed. When you turn it on, the logic module turns the stepper motor a preset number of rotations to take the louvre to a position where it can then begin its up and down cycle.
All I had to do was influence how far back the new Home position should be by stuffing a plastic packaging foam (secured with double-sided tape) between the louvre and the vent. The result is that the louvre's new Home position is now lower and so, the up and down cycle is also lower which makes the airflow reach my side of the bed.
Had the most comfortable sleep in weeks.
I'm still considering if I should make it look more elegant. But since this is hidden away in the bedroom, I really couldn't care less. I just wanted my sleep back.![]()
imho, this louvre has its own "gears" to move freely. putting a sort of wedge will limit its natural sway and might damage the mechanism that's directing its full movement. continuous restriction of louvre movement could potentially lead to damage or premature wear and tear on the louvres, the motor mechanism (if motorized), or other components.
in the workplace,
the aircon's direction always hits me smack at the back, no matter what factory-designed position it is in.
so i turn the swivel off, then manually adjust the fins away from me.
ok naman. walang nasisira, nababasag, or na-mis-align.
but i have to do it everytime i turn on the aircon.
i am not sure if other models will allow for such "manual adjust".

The louvre is "dumb"... it has no sensors or position switches. The control board blindly sends out commands to the motor to do this or that for this amount of rotations or time, no more.
When you turn off the A/C, the control board sends the louvre to the Home/closed position. It doesn't have a way to "know" where this home position is so it just runs the motor until the louvre gets to the Home position. And even if the louvre has reached Home and gets stuck, the motor continuously run for a couple or so additional seconds because again, it doesn't know where it is so it just keeps sending signals to the motor to make sure it reaches Home. This indicates that the louvre and its stepper motor is designed to do that... which is to get stuck at something even with the motor active.
What I did was lower the Home position so the motor will get stuck early. This way, the louvre "sweep" is also lower.
The louvre is NEVER hitting the foam piece while in normal operation.

haven't tried it, but
just looking at the pictures,
meron namang wind, but it is not directed at you.
mukhang sa kisame naka-tutok.
heh heh.
personally, i do not think it will cool the room more efficiently or faster, than traditional louvered aircons.
but yes, i know how it feels when the aircon's wind flow preferentially targets you. our workplace split aircon is like that. i just adjust it to swivel, to lighten the cold wind....

I'm speaking out of my butt as I don't own one so take this with a grain of salt.
From what I can gather from research, the ideal use case for Wind-free would be in smaller rooms or spaces where focused airflow is likely to hit occupants no matter how you orient the vents.
For larger, longer, or irregularly-shaped rooms, an A/C with a traditional vent would probably be more efficient at cooling the whole space.
