I think they still do manufacture units here in the philippines but for some if not all models the design is made by midea with some alterations done by the request by carrier/condura( e.g condura primea and midea U WT)

I couldn't agree more. I do that "technique" on aircon in our house and cars. But, unfortunately, I'm not the only one using/controlling aircon in our house + almost 24/7 use of aircon in our house 'cause of the kids. I'm just glad a certain aircon service (Teko) is very easy to contact/book a service.

Fortunately, I got this auto clean function with my samsung aircon in my room.
Also, am doing the cleaning of my outdoor unit. Kahit paano nakaka save ako ng cleaning technician charge.

I don't know if they've already made changes, but on all the Samsung splits we have, the cleaning mode must be triggered every single time. You can do it in one of two ways.... First, while the A/C is running, you turn on the cleaning mode and when you turn off the A/C, it will go into cleaning mode before shutting down. 2nd way is a bit more elaborate in that, you need to turn on the A/C with the remote facing away (so not 'really' turning on the A/C), then tap on the cleaning mode button, and finally pointing the remote at the A/C and turning it 'off'.

At least sa LG split, the feature can be turned on and it will remember to clean every time you turn it off (until a power failure resets it).

Pero I've relegated all that to a smart home routine where several IR blasters will trigger fan mode on high for 30 minutes.... regardless of what the A/Cs are doing. This method has kept the cleaners at bay for at least an additional 3-4 months.

Dumudumi pa din naman talaga yun fan roller blade so either way kailanga pa din palinis so kahit gawin yun drying out ng evaporator or hinde in more or less 6 months papa service na din

Depends on your environment. In our case, mas mabilis mag-gel ang evap core because of the high humidity, kesa mag ipon ng alikabok. So instead of 3-4x a year cleaning, we can do with 1-2x a year nalang. Multiply with your number of split A/Cs, that's huge savings.

We're currently undergoing a major home renovation and are considering three different aircon brands, as follows:

    2.5HP
    Carrier FP-53CACO24308
    Koppel KSW-24R4A2 / KPC-24HH4A2
    Samsung AR24TYHYEWKNTC

    2.0HP
    Carrier FP-53CACO18308
    Koppel KSW-18R4A2 / KPC-18HH4A2
    Samsung AR18TYHYEWKNTC

    1.5HP
    Carrier FP-53CACO12308
    Koppel KSW-14R4A2 / KPC-12HH4A2
    Samsung AR12TYHYEWKNTC

    1.0HP
    Carrier FP-53CACO09308
    Koppel KSW-09R4A2 / KPC-09HH4A2
    Samsung AR09TYHYEWKNTC

We’re planning to get at least one unit per HP.
I’d love to hear about your experience with any of these brands or specific units you’ve used.

    Thank you.

Carrier is just re-badged Midea ... so better to just get Midea ...
Avoid Samsung because their coils are costly to fix ...

You might want to consider Daikin ...

When looking at split type aircons with similar specs and pricing ... get the one with the larger outdoor unit since this will be the major factor in efficiency ...

Have Daikin, Midea, TCL ... Daikin is top ... Midea mid ... TCL good features but not so good quality even the plastics, the only one with backlight remote ...

We have a TCL 1.5HP inverter split in the bedroom. The outdoor unit is surprisingly small, maybe 25% smaller than the Samsung inverter split of the same capacity it replaced. Though subjectively, the TCL also seems to cool faster than the Samsung.

The old Samsung used R410A while the TCL uses the newer R32. The latter is more efficient and A/Cs requires less of them by volume, which is how manufacturers are able to reduce the condenser coil size and outdoor unit dimensions while retaining the same cooling capacity.

    Thanks for this.
I made an initial research, and this is what I found:

    2.5HP (3 units)
    Carrier FP-53CACO24308 – P49.5K Ansons – energy efficiency (EE) 5.10
    Koppel KSW-24R4A2 / KPC-24HH4A2 – P39.5K MabCes – EE 3.31 | EER 11.22
    Samsung AR24TYHYEWKNTC – P32.7K Samsung web – EE 4.9 | EER 11.47 kJ/hW

    2.0HP (1 unit)
    Carrier FP-53CACO18308 – P40.0K Ansons – EE 4.30
    Koppel KSW-18R4A2 / KPC-18HH4A2 – P32.8K MabCes – EE 3.49 | EER 11.8
    Samsung AR18TYHYEWKNTC – P30.6K Samsung web – EE 4.01 | 10.80 kJ/hW

    1.5HP (1 unit)
    Carrier FP-53CACO12308 – P31.0K Ansons – EE 4.50
    Koppel KSW-12R4A2 / KPC-12HH4A2 – P23.9K MabCes – EE 3.47 | EER 11.8
    Samsung AR12TYHYEWKNTC – P24.2K Samsung web – EE 4.7 | EER 11.3

    1.0HP (4 units)
    Carrier FP-53CACO09308 – P26.0K Ansons – EE 4.32
    Koppel KSW-09R4A2 / KPC-09HH4A2 – P20.8K MabCes – EE 3.5 | EER 11.9
    Samsung AR09TYHYEWKNTC – P21.7K Samsung web – EE 4.24 | EER 12.2

    * All Koppel units are non-inverter type

Their quotation is at par naman with retailers.
We’re dropping Koppel because all the units are non-inverter type and low EE/EER/CSPF rating.
I’m surprised with the pricing of Carrier compared to the other two brands.

We’ll ask for additional quotation, they also have the following brands:
    Daikin
    Hitachi
    Mitsubishi
    Kolin
    Panasonic

We’ll also ask if they carry the following brands:
    Midea
    TCL

    Thanks again.

Daikin is of AC while Toyota is of Car.

    Similarity nila, dami mabilhan parts.
Kakabili ko lang, may dedicated branch sila sa area namin just to sell the parts.
    OK lang price nila.

Kung sa patibayan daw, Mitsubishi is the way to go if you have budget.
Pero pang matagalan daw tong AC nila.
Bihira lang makakuha for residential, focus ata sila dun sa mga commercial establishments.

However, if malapit bahay mo sa putrid bodies of water, kahit anong brand kakalawangin yang AC coil.
Unang bibigay is ang indoor AC coil.

Unless siguro if properly coated na ng anti-rust AC coil.
If hindi pa coated, may option ka naman to request the technician to apply anti-rust paint dun sa indoor AC coil before installing the new AC indoor unit.

    Also, go for Inverter units.

Your savings from electricity after 2-3 yrs is enough to buy a new AC unit.
That's how big the difference of power consumption between traditional ACs vs Inverter ACs.

Stay away from carrier and condura aircons. The recent models, within 1-2 years, may issues na kagad. Same din with kelvinator. All three iisa lang ang supplier.

I've read somewhere na ok raw ang panasonic kahit ilang years nang hindi nalilinisan. Pero it probably isn't that cheap compared to other brands. Pick LG pag trip niyo yung pwedeng connected sa internet ang unit.

    My personal experience po.
Previously, my appliances were 2 traditional window type ACs (1HPs), 1 traditional ref (Panasonic 1 door na medium size/lower than my height).
My monthly electricity was Php8k and sometimes reaching 9k.

Now, my appliances are 1 window type inverter AC Panasonic (1HP), 1 split type inverter AC Daikin(1.5Hp), 1 Panasonic Inverter Ref(2 doors na higher than my height).
Naglalaro nalang yung monthly bill ko betweek 3.5k-4.5k.

Hindi ko na ininclude yung TVs and the electric fans since irrelevant na and they only contributed a small fraction of my electricity consumption.

May nakita pa rin akong issue na kinalawang and nagleleak ang indoor AC coil ng Panasonic split type AC (you can search in youtube), maybe because malapit lang area nila sa putrid bodies of water.
Sa mga ganitong lugar, mas better if you will replace the indoor AC coil nalang ng indoor unit.
Mas cheaper pa than replacing the unit into brand new one.
Yung brand new na ipapalit, similar lang din ma experience nyan later on.
Dito mas advantageous yung brand na may plenty of parts available.

In our climate setting and quality of air, must yung AC cleaning every 6 mos (or every 4 mos if you are heavy user).

Sa Japan lang ako naka experience na hindi pinapalinisan yung split type ACs for 5 yrs but OK pa rin yung split type AC(Panasonic split type with heater functionality).
Hindi lang ako sure if inverter type ba yung naka install sa tinitirhan ko or traditional type.
Yung lugar ko, umabot dun yung dust storm, from Mongolia daw yun.
It should have clogged the outdoor unit at that time nung umabot ang dust storm.

Also, if trip nyo to connect your AC to internet, pwd naman gumamit ng IR blaster like (sensibo).
Using device like sensibo, pwd mo na ma connect and control your AC via your smartphone anywhere.

Good to know! When our current aircon was serviced, it actually short-circuited. The tech said it was caused by dirt stuck on the PCB. He wanted to charge us for it, but I stood my ground, and in the end, he covered the cost.
