damage to the wall is probably the least of one's troubles.
i figure, one rectangular hole is cheaper and easier to create and maintain than...
much smaller holes thru the wall + a weather-protected outside housing or platform with electrical works + long insulated tubings and fittings that do not drip or leak + installation of unit.
but if creating that rectangular hole in the wall is non-negotiable (structural issues, real estate property issues, building code, etc), then that is when split type becomes one of necessity and not choice.

Yup lalo kung may pwesto naman sa likod. Dati nga Hitachi inverter WT lang tipo ko ngayon meron na rin Panasonic. Madali naman magpalit kahit every 5 years![]()

mga sir balak ko po bumili split type aircon inverter daikin 1hp sa ray and j's ok ba sila mag kabit ng aircon sino po dito mga nakabili sa kanila sila po pinakamura eh...
We have this unit since 2007, Kelvinator. My wife chose the unit and the size, I find it's power a bit "small" for daytime use. She didn't know that the walls being exposed to the sun should be considered for the power requirements. She simply asked those guys from the store. I was out for a year and when I came home, it's already installed.
I'm not complaining, it has served its purpose and we are satisfied. Recently, I brought it in a shop to replace the starting capacitor. I could have done it myself, have I known that "single phase sound" is the indication for a failed capacitor.
Sometimes, I consider the price secondary if there's a nearby services center. I go straight to them and see the lowest price that they can offer.
If no one here in this forum can testify of the reputation of the shop you mentioned, your alternative is to there and "interview" the customers.
unless the aircon is of a special type, aircon repair is usually de cajon.
i call up the repairman, who comes to the house and fixes it there. if a part is needed and he did not bring it, he comes back later that day.
we live in a place where such parts are not difficult to get.
it is not easy to pull out that heavy aircon, load it in the car, and drive to the shop. then, once repaired, do the reverse.

Why I haven't thought of it to just call them? Well, it so happened that it was 4 PM and my wife will not have a goodnight sleep if it won't be repaired right away. If I were to call, the repair guy will surely come the next day.
If my wife won't have a goodnight sleep, I might not have my 2 AM routine. There, that makes it urgent and necessary.
How do I say it here? I know! Exercise, "exercise with partner".

Please don't ask what particular exercise that I do, as I have read in the forum's rules and regulations that it is prohibited to mention it and much more to discuss it that I will be banned.
In the absence of rules and regulations, there might be minors here.
So, I'm out of here.
What's the diff between full dc and standard inverter when it comes to savings? Does it really have a big effect? Asking because not sure if I should just stick to the standard one or upgrade to the full dc.
