Split Type Aircon: Which is best?

It's the "working capacity" of the unit. 100% means that you are using the full capacity of the compressor while 40% means that you are "saving" a power consumption of 60%, as you are running it at 40% capacity.

But isn't this automatic when you set the temperature? It runs at full capacity to achieve the desired temperature, less when it is achieved, and varies to maintain.
