a few days and some pages ago, this thread was a very respectful and intelligent thread. thanks to some hard-core (to non transformers candidacy) posters, the quality of the discussions degraded.

guys, let's get this back on track. not fun anymore reading responses to the provocatively inaccurate and meaningless fallacy posts of these posters.

most of us think that walang kakwenta-kwenta naman yung mga pinagsasbi nung mga yun so wag na lang natin patulan. they're just not gonna stop and will continue to take this thread down the drain. naha-hijack na tong thread na to ng mga yan eh gaya nung pagsasawalang-kwenta nila dun sa mga threads about the candidates they're supporting.

alright then; I do apologize if other Gordon supporters are bashing on your Presidentiable candidate.
Guyz, what am just pointing in here is that; let us know how to RESPECT an individual's choice of whom he would like to VOTE. And if you would like to put good thoughts about the candidate; then please do so, as it could help to choose the best person; but, if you would like to put negative post on the candidate, please also kindly post its credibility of that statement...

Wow, now I really see that dictatorship has no place in this country. No equal rule for the royal class and only good comment is allowed.
as much as possible, no dictatorship in the country again; as it had almost a traumatic experience for our country.

You're man.. truly deserves no vote because you reflect only the candidate you're campaigning.
huh? sorry but I dont get your point.

    lesson for today: DEMAGOGUE

Demagogy or demagoguery (Ancient Greek δημαγωγία, from δῆμος dēmos "people" and ἄγειν agein "to lead") is a strategy for gaining political power by appealing to the prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public—typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist, populist or religious themes.
    popular demagogues from past elections:
    erap: "Erap Para Sa Mahirap"
FPJ: unfortunately (or was it fortunately?) she was allegedly cheated by GMA, so he didn't become president.

Poe accepted the nomination in December 2003 and was to be the standard opposition bearer for the Philippines' 2004 presidential election.[12] Some accounts portray him as a reluctant candidate who was only prevailed upon to accept the nomination by his best friend, former President Joseph Estrada. But other accounts say he was convinced to cast his bid for the presidency because of the overwhelming crowd that gathered for the first rally of the FPJ for President Movement at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
there was no genuine conviction to lead, but he obviously saw the masa's support. did he try to take advantage? look again at how a demagogue is defined.

sadly, this "style" works in pinas. 1998, erap got 39%. in 2004, FPJ got 36%. roco who was the most respectable of them all got only 13% and 6.45% (yup, with a decimal point).

if we are an objective electorate, it's our responsibility to educate our fellow voters... regardless of whom we're rooting for.

so here's my humble challenge: bring this topic in your favorite candidate's thread (noynoy, villar, erap, gibo, gordon, etc.) and talk amongst yourselves (kapwa ka-supporter mo, para walang balyahan, asaran... that way the discussion becomes productive)... and then honestly ask and answer... is my candidate heavily using this strategy on me?

note that i used "heavily" because in one way or another, all of these candidates use this. the milder they use this, the less desperate they are.

to role model, since this is a gordon thread, what do you see in gordon's campaign that shows a hint of a demagogue?

my personal example: gordon hitting villar with bribery to have him quit... i think that's a demagogue of "hala, sige iboto nyo si villar, lagot kayo, corrupt yan." (from the definition, by appealing to the fears of the public)

for other candidates' supporters who are willing to take on this little challenge, let us know if you've started this topic in your threads. in my eyes, that's a sign of objectivity & maturity, and a kudos to you for taking the first step.

    game?

    Human Rights
    Murder of journalists and militants.
Command responsibility. Check our laws on motorcycles; crash helmet with plate number for both driver and rider. We did it in Olongapo, we could do it all over the country.
    AFP/PNP respect for human rights.
Hold AFP and police responsible. The people gave them power and firearms and they should be responsible and answerable to us.
    Economic rights over civil liberties.
    Both.The answer is good governance.
Do we have too much freedom? Is democracy working for RP?
It’s very hard to tell... but we have to love democracy.
Is the RP press irresponsible? Have you been treated fairly by mass media?
Yes and no. AC-DC daw yung mga nasa baba... I was complaining earlier... I hope I don’t offend you but I have heard reports... You see I don’t practice “envelopmental” journalism. I guess the way to solve this is to raise their salary. I’m sorry about last time because I was exasperated... but I feel sad that the words I am saying are not given space.
    Environment
How to deal with extreme flooding.
Education and resolution. Plan what interventions are needed. Practice evacuation/tsunami drills.
    Policies on climate change.
Adaptation. Build more nuclear, hydroelectric plants. Technical intervention must be planned.
    Logging/agroforestry/water management?
Massive reforestation. Build more hydroelectric plants and water catchments. Responsible water management.
    Sports
    Priority of sports development.
Yes. Sports teach us values. There must be a sports program in every school. Intramurals should be encouraged.
First-ever Olympic gold under your watch? How?
If Pacquiao could be a 7-time world champion, then we could do it. Sports program in this country is title-oriented. The job of leadership in sports or politics is to uplift the people.
What’s your stand on the following:
    Charter change/parliamentary system
    Yes. No.
    Cha-cha mode.
    Con ass. It’s cheaper.
    Provisions to be revised.
Ombudsman should be elected, not appointed. Extend terms of local officials, to 6 years. President, maybe 4+4.
    Federalism.
    Not now.
    VFA/US troops in Mindanao.
    In favor.
    RH bill/family planning/contraception.
Population should not be excuse for non-development. Free choice. No abortion.
Freedom of Information Act/Right of Reply.
    Yes. Yes.
    Divorce.
Limited divorce; don’t make it so easy.
    Gay rights/gay marriage.
    Rights, yes; co-ownership. Marriage, no.
    Death penalty.
    No.
What can we expect in your first 100 days.
You will feel the change on the first day.

    *gen miting, sorry bro, hehe...

just in time: Comparison of Substance of Platforms of Aquino, Gordon, Villar, Perlas, and Obama

platforms should be written to answer the "how?"s. they shouldn't be vague; have to be specific as much as possible.

second point: i believe antipinoy.com is mostly for gordon, yet they can still see and acknowledge his weaknesses.

let's be objective about our favorites. identify what's real and what's not real.

*tabularasa, if that's a real violation of election rules, gordon must pay. nobody should be excused.

again, let's demonstrate our objectivity. we must not be loyalists to our favorite candidates, else we'll close our eyes to reality...

nobody in our presidential choices is perfect. if you feel that yours is, you have to do some serious reflection... you have lost your capacity for critical thinking... don't hope for any political messiah.

Gordon will!
