In an election, there is no right or wrong vote. The success of any leader is only as good as the willingness of the people to follow and to be led by him or her. Accomplishments are not qualification for the office but merely an embellishment intended to persuade people.

but isn't it that accomplishments are proof that the candidate isn't idle and actually finishes what he started?

    HUH??????

sensya na ha... di ko matiis di mag-comment dito eh...

gusto ko lang sanang i-remind ang mga nakakabasa na ang eleksyon eh hindi tungkol sa "success of any leader". ito po ay para sa success ng ating mahal na bayan. so, is there a right or wrong vote? YES there is DEFINITELY. we need to vote for someone that will lead our country towards the path of success.

if we are not to look at the accomplishments of those running for this highest post (apparently because they are just there to persuade us), then what will we consider then? this really is mind-boggling to me.

wag po sana tayong magpakawala ng mga "wisdom statements" that is not relevant and may be misleading.

*tabularasa : no offense, brader. i know you're a noynoy die-hard and i respect your boldness in participating in this thread.

I'm flattered by your comment, rest assured no offense taken. If accomplishment to you is that important, then let us examine GMA. She pursued a Master's Degree in Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University (1978) and a Doctorate Degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines (1985). From 1977 to 1987, she held teaching positions in several schools, notably the University of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University. She became chairperson of the Economics Department at Assumption College.

In 1987 she was invited by President Corazon Aquino to join the government as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry. She was promoted to Undersecretary two years later. In her concurrent position as Executive Director of the Garments and Textile Export Board, Arroyo oversaw the rapid growth of the garment industry in the late 1980s.As a legislator, Arroyo filed over 400 bills and authored or sponsored 55 laws during her tenure as senator, including the Anti-***ual Harassment Law, the Indigenous People's Rights Law, and the Export Development Act. The 1995 Mining Act, which allows 100% foreign ownership of Philippine mines, has come under fire from left-wing political groups.

Because of her well rounded achievements, we have been fortunate to be the least economically developed member of ASEAN. So now, what wisdom statements are you claiming that achievements would put us to the rightful place in the world map?

Please just vote the one you believe will help our beloved country move forward.
una ako naka-vote si FVR vs. Mirriam [i voted for FVR]
then Erap vs. De Venecia vs. Lim [i voted for Lim]

anyone cory endorsed, i voted. last elections i was set to vote for FPJ pero di na ako bumoto not bec. I dont care anymore but bec. hindi ako nagising eh. now why FPJ? wala lang para maiba lang.

you see i was as idealistic as anyone of you here before. kung ano yun pulso ng lesser evil dun ako

and look what happened. si Lim balimbing din nun EDSA 2.
si FVR, sabi nila nagpayaman daw dyan sa reclamation
si ERap, pinatalsik bec. of jueteng.

now GMA is also accused of amassing so much wealth and dynasty daw.

heard it so many times that elections are good starting point etc. etc.

the thing is let's stop starting and just CONTINUE! no matter how palpak yun previous. mas okey pa yun. if we were corrupting to the tune of Millions in the 90's, and this decade with billions. percentage percentage na lang, syempre di naman puwede nakawin lahat. so lumaki din naman napupunta percentage sa taumbayan even if may corruption. billions na kase ang pera eh.

sana nga umabot na tayo sa sa trillions.

iba talaga pananaw ko, kaya nga sabi ko sa inyo mark this day when I revealed you this bec. sometime later in your life, you will remember what i said if not remember me.

and be kind to the corrupt people. little do we know na sila talaga nagpapasok ng pera sa bansa. for example, if it is true that Manny Villar spent Billions or has a billion pesos. syempre, natikman na nyan billion eh, mag-aaspire naman nyan ng 100B or trillions. eh di dami papasok pera sa'tin kasi i-aachieve nya yun talaga.

that's a good thing i suppose, in fact better than those who just want to account for everthing and live like profit = gross -expense thingy. dapat talaga may free radicals, parang the Matrix. the balance must be disturbed. kung balance eh di 1 or nothing lang. di mas mahirap yun.

do you mean achievements count for nothing? by which criterion then are we supposed to choose??? whoever has a more melodramatic ad? whoever has a better shirt color? whoever has the nicest parents? whoever is leading the surveys?

there's a big disconnect in GMA and achievements logic. since GMA has achievements, and since GMA is corrupt, therefore anybody else who has achievements should not be voted? clearly bad logic.

for me, judgment of candidates must be multi-dimensional, and i suggest anybody who is seriously looking for a candidate practice some form of quantitative analysis...

enter beauty pageants: pageants every time lay out their criteria for judging prior to the contest. 30% beauty, 30% personality, 20% talent, 20% intelligence... coz winnability must not lie on one criterion alone... if you take away the "30% beauty", why the heck is it a beauty contest for???

achievements shouldn't count? then why don't we just go to the streets and pick any, and i mean any well-meaning individual and have him run for the post?

for me personally, my criteria must have the following: achievements, leadership, character, platform. not just one of these, but all of these putting different weights on what i think is a good recipe... the other point is, no candidate is perfect. and centuries from now, no one will ever be. i am for gordon, but that doesn't mean i'll turn a blind eye to issues that are raised about him. that wouldn't be very objective of me, right? as an example, i think gordon doesn't have a clearcut platform so i'd give him a low score in that area. i've seen gibo's, and it's way better. but if gordon's numbers add up the highest in my calculation, then i'd go for him.

the elections is nothing but a pageant of ugly people. we are the judges. let's be critical and make sure we're using the right criteria.

You never have to say that you're for Gordon because it shows the color from the start. You are saying that there is a big disconnect between GMa and achievements, why, are you so sure that your candidate will be the so wise that won't turn into a monster. Your high regard for your candidate is only as good as my high respect for my candidate. Admittedly my candidate can show values and tiny bit achievements, but I'd still vote for NOYNOY and not for Gordon

VOTE whoever you want to vote
JUst think of your children's future and VOTE for a candidate that you think is lesser evil, and have accomplished numerous things; not candidates who have plans to take back the money what have been campaigned and candidates who is being almost dictated to do this & that.

Gordon will!
