The Foreign affairs problem is the mishandling of supposedly covert op video (aka rescue of "abused" OFWs) that Mocha Uson's group wanted to magnify and use for propaganda, but it back fired and sh!t hits the fan.

The numerous cases of OFW being killed and abused is another matter. We are doing good some weeks back, we had the moral high-ground to demand from Kuwait. May deployment ban pa nga. I support all those measures.

But when you have another group or agency wanted nothing but promote propaganda (in tagalog: puropagpapaganda), then it becomes exposed to monumental screw ups. just like what had happen.

The obvious question is: How come the DFA and the Ambasador missed the basic diplomatic principles? Or maybe somebody told them to just sit on their hands and let Mocha run the show and her project there.

The situation sucks really. Given a choice most Pinoys would want to stay here in PH, but they can't, because generation after generation has failed to make life easier for the next.

i am in no way condoning the mistreatment of OFWs, but here is the stark reality : as things are, we *need* to send OFWs abroad. There is zero doubt in my mind about that.

The question we should be asking is whether or not the government is making the situation better or worse...whether we are capitalizing in their sacrifices to makes life in these islands better.

What I'm saying is that there will always be people who will prefer to work abroad, for whatever reason.

I don't have the numbers, but I'm betting most Filipinos work abroad for economic reasons.

Your "solution" is too myopic, and does not take into account a lot of factors why we have a large number of migrant workers to begin with.

One of that factor is our more than 100 million population.

There are a lot of other factors, of course.

And because of that it will take more than making the Phils. export oriented to entice our OFW's to just stay home.

omg i have to explain everything sabi ko admin after admin after admin so i'm talking about going back several decades if our country decided to build an industrial base in the 1960s we would be a high income country by now and people wouldn't need to go abroad and we would even be hiring foreign labor to clean our toilets and we wouldn't be having this problem in the first place

Sun Tzu would advise Kim to do the same if he is still alive.

Their recent power projection is based on threat and fear of war. It didn;t work out last time, so now Kim is doing things differently. I heard their nuke test site collapsed and theres not much success on their missiles too. So, those threats and word war has nothing to it but just bluff. The blinked, now they cross the border to seek peace.

Clever idea: seek peace. Buy time. Stay alive.

Kasalanan ni Marcos, at iba pang katulad niyang corrupt, yan.

We were on that road and he derailed it big time to enrich himself, setting the Philippines back to the dinosaur age.

Kaya nga sabi ni PNoy: Kung walang kurap, walang mahirap.

And since you can't put the genie back in the bottle, we have to concentrate efforts on what we can do now, not what could have been yesterday.

    Tapos na 1960's.

kaya etong problema re OFWs will be with us for a long time

kahit iba na ang admin... decades from now... ganyan parin

coz of our human export, friction with foreign governments is unavoidable

this Kuwait incident won't be the last

    About Boracay? It's about time.

    Kano, Hapon, Pinoy sa barko

Kano nagtapon ng mansanas sa dagat

    sabi ng dalawa "sayang"

sabi ng Kano "madami kami nyan"

Hapon nagtapon ng TV sa dagat

    sabi ng dalawa "sayang"

sabi ng Hapon "madami kami nyan"

Pinoy nagtapon ng maid sa dagat

The issue can be OFW and the way we 'export' them, but the main issue of the discussion here is what DFA did to rescue those OFW and how they handled it (videohan ba naman at ipost para ipagmalaki).

The plight of OFWs and reason why we are OK with sending someone we love abroad to work includes a lot of dynamics there - political, social, economic and sometimes even religious. But altogether, ibang usapin yan.

Back to the plot -- DFA covertly and illegally recues distressed OFWs in Kuwait without going to proper diplomatic means, video it and posted it on social media like an action packed, navy seal-led, hard core mission worthy of praise.
