Re: loans for territory, I don't think they consulted the finance department. Mahina sa math ang negotiator hehe.

So now the territory is practically China's, while these questionable loans that surely favor China are in the works. I don't know how he supposedly will bring out the "shelved" arbitral ruling in the future. How do you do that when you owe China a huge amount that will probably be impossible to pay back?

I bet Xi can't believe how lucky he is to have all this landing on his lap. I don't think in his wildest dreams he would've thought it were possible.

Thank you USA, Australia and Japan.
The chinese put their money on duterte because they had previous dealing with him and they knew long before duterte run for president that hes easy to deal with as long as plenty of money is involved

Duterte released suspected chinese nationals involved in drug trade before for humanitarian reason when he was still the mayor of davao

Duterte once commented, bakit, masama ba magka utang na loob?

Taken in this context, yes, because debt can be used as leverage to sacrifice our national interests.

^during the last campaign duterte gave the impression that he want to shun traditional politics of accepting money from big corporation and the pay back there after

With mochas appointment, we now know that was all for show

With the appointment of mark villar to DPWH is more telling

Magaling talaga tumanaw ng utang na loob si duterte

they're also pushing through with the Nickelodeon underwater theme park in Palawan. GLo used to be so vocally against this, parang tahimik sya ngayon

i wonder what roxas, poe, binay would do if any one of them were president with respect to the marawi problem. would they be that decisive too?

no, i wouldn't venture to say that binay would hide the 52M.

They will push through with the Nickelodeon underwater theme park daw, si Wanda Teo mismo pag eendorse. Not a fan of hers, but GLo is eerily silent these days

Dito ko lang nalaman na related pala si Teo sa mga Tulfo. I was wondering why her face was somehow familiar. Also explains why I get an uneasy feeling whenever I see her despite her being hell of a lot more decent than her brothers.

Roxas wont panic and declare martial law whimsically, just like noynoy didnt do with zamboanga seige

London was attacked on several occasions already but the british govt aint in the mood to resort to martial rule because of the ramification you mentioned in the other thread

noynoy has killer instinct. he is a gun enthusiast. he shoots. he drives a 911. he was a survivor and he has battle scars to show it. the same cannot be said to roxas. the poor guy doesn't even know how to ride a motorcycle. during the senate hearing on mamasapano all that he could say, in the presence of the 6th ID commander who did not fire his cannon until the whole blocking force was already wiped out, was: "you could have shoot in my position." in retrospect, breathtaking from a would be commander-in-chief.

general george patton said it best: "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his."

england and philippines do not stand on the same footing. is there AKP in england? is there ASG in england? is there BIFF in england? is there maute group in england? are there PAGS in england? are there separatist groups in england? was there 400 to 500 in full battle gear extremists invading a city in england? was there a pintakasi in england?

a mole hill and a mountain are not the same. you can stamp down the former using your feet; you need a backhoe and a bulldozer to get rid of the latter.

Similar to a line in Without Remorse, to paraphrase: "Fair play for me means all my men get home alive".

Sadly, this reminds me of another quote:

In war, whichever side may call itself the victor, there are no winners, but all are losers.

    Neville Chamberlain
