i'm gonna quote some parts of the article that confirm my views

China creating projects for its construction companies

Chinese construction companies had lots of practice building highways and bridges and tunnels and railways that they have become so good they're exporting their expertise



China needs new projects to absorb its overcapacity



Chinese labor



loans are to countries that aren't very creditworthy





So it makes sense to me if China is going to lend in RMB instead of USD

since contractors will all be Chinese

no problem in currency acceptance

The other countries could also pay them in minerals, metals and other raw materials. Or any commodity as long as it's given at under market value. Like how some African countries are doing. Not much risk on their part. Win-win for China.

Before focusing on the situation as an opportunity for political bickering, I hope that we remember that there are real people caught in the crossfires, and the priority is to pacify the situation with as minimal collateral damage as possible.

Compassion, not hate.

Also, while I am in firm opposition of dictatorship and totalitariansim, do note that the Martial Law declared now is not the same as it was in 1971. The 1987 constitution has made sure of that.

Of course, with an unstable head of government, you're never sure which way the cookie crumbles, so vigilance is a must.

But I can't help it. This a FAIL in my book as Duterte knew in advance that Marawi was a target of the Maute group after he bombarded them in their nearby base.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Other nearby provinces are on red alert...police actively patrolling their area in case the fighting spills over.

Maute militants entrenched in the city, hospital under their control, major roads blocked off, residents cannot flee, no intel on what's going on inside except for social media posts.

This can get very messy.

Agree. For now, let's support our troops and at least, pray and hope for those whose lives are affected. Let's decipher other matters later on.

It's easy for us who are critical and aghast with the things the current admin is doing and immediately lay the blame, as that's exactly what fanatically critical persons would do to the previous admin. Prudence and civility however dictates that we should focus first on the importance of the lives involved and fervently hope that normalcy is restored soonest, before we start laying the blame game.
