    The best petition ever:

Petition * Petition for Imelda Marcos to be buried at the Manila Film Center * Change.org

    😀👍

to be or not to be, that always confuses me!

I was watching the hearing earlier. The police called the SOCO at 3:49am, while the shooting happened at 4:30am.

Hindi nila masagot ng derecho yung tanong na, "Bakit kayo tumawag ng SOCO eh wala pa naman palang krimen na nagaganap? Inexpect niyo ba na magkakaroon ng barilan?"

The hearing confirms what we've instinctively known all along - that this was all staged.

And yet the President still coddles the police, so expect more acts of impunity in the months to come.

I think this is a good thing.

Either way, however, we will FINALLY find out if it's worth un-mothballing the giant edifice, or if it is destined to remain the country's biggest white elephant.

yup. nuclear power plants have matured well enough at this point.

since Trump was elected in the other side of the pond, it's a good wake up call to focus on local industries rather than relying on BPO for the most part.

one has to realize that we can't depend on americans losing their jobs all the time...
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

Only if the best and brightest engineeers and technicians were to run the nuclear plant. Sana walang palakasan, kamaganak, kaprobinsiya sa hiring.

There was a study on molten salt reactors in the 60's that has the least radiation and highly efficient compared to the traditional reactors.

Some things have to move back here. It's unnerving when my wife called DirecTV's tech support and when someone answered, the background noise and chatter sounded like it's in Manila.

Something to think about before we bash others who don't have the same views as us:

The “Other Side” Is Not Dumb. – Sean Blanda – Medium

Online it means we can be blindsided by the opinions of our friends or, more broadly, America. Over time, this morphs into a subconscious belief that we and our friends are the sane ones and that there’s a crazy “Other Side” that must be laughed at — an Other Side that just doesn’t “get it,” and is clearly not as intelligent as “us.” But this holier-than-thou social media behavior is counterproductive, it’s self-aggrandizement at the cost of actual nuanced discourse and if we want to consider online discourse productive, we need to move past this.

What is emerging is the worst kind of echo chamber, one where those inside are increasingly convinced that everyone shares their world view, that their ranks are growing when they aren’t. It’s like clockwork: an event happens and then your social media circle is shocked when a non-social media peer group public reacts to news in an unexpected way. They then mock the Other Side for being “out of touch” or “dumb.”
My FB feed and Tsikot have been echo chambers of anti-Duterte sentiments, without any real discourse. Everyone is just humoring everyone and joining on the hate parade, hurling expletives at those from the "other side".

I'm not promoting moral relativism. There are some things that for me aren't justifiable, like the Marcos burial at the LMNB. But there's a reason why some people are okay with it, there's a reason why they don't share the outrage of others, more than just because they're dumb (believe me, there are a lot of people smarter and more successful than us that still see Duterte's administration positively).

A dare for the next time you’re in discussion with someone you disagree with: Don’t try to “win.” Don’t try to “convince” anyone of your viewpoint. Don’t score points by mocking them to your peers. Instead try to “lose.” Hear them out. Ask them to convince you and mean it.

Or, the next time you feel compelled to share a link on social media about current events, ask yourself why you are doing it. Is it because that link brings to light information you hadn’t considered? Or does it confirm your world view, reminding your circle of intellectual teammates that you’re not on the Other Side?

I implore you to seek out your opposite. When you hear someone cite “facts” that don’t support your viewpoint don’t think “that can’t be true!” Instead consider, “Hm, maybe that person is right? I should look into this.”

Because refusing to truly understand those who disagree with you is intellectual laziness and worse, is usually worse than what you’re accusing the Other Side of doing.

I have not unfriended anyone since the start of campaign season. I have had arguments with pro-Duterte friends, and have mollified some anti-Duterte friends.

I find it interesting to see what the other side is thinking. But at the same time, am saddened by the lack of thought they sometimes display, sharing memes and BS just because it validates their preconceptions, without considering the implications, first.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
