I wonder how long it will take before our economy tanks.

So far our ratings are maintained, but the flags are now raised.

S&P flags ‘rising uncertainties’ in PH amid ‘diminished’ policy stability | Inquirer Business

In a statement Wednesday, S&P noted that President Duterte “has a strong focus on improving law and order, which has allegedly resulted in numerous instances of extrajudicial killings since he came to power.”
“When combined with the President’s policy pronouncements elsewhere on foreign policy and national security, we believe that the stability and predictability of policymaking has diminished somewhat,” according to S&P.

As such, S&P said “a higher rating is unlikely over our two-year ratings horizon” for the Philippines.
What's keeping things afloat are the fundamentals that are in place at this point.

The said weaknesses were nonetheless offset by the country’s strong external position on the back of increasing foreign exchange reserves as well as low and decreasing foreign debt, it added.
In this regard, S&P kept the Philippines’ credit rating one notch above investment grade, affirming the current ‘BBB’ long-term as well as ‘A-2’ short-term sovereign credit ratings, with a stable outlook.
We're being watched closely it appears.

As it has always been on matters of this magnitude. The unshod/uninformed are always just pawns.

Honestly, nobody knows (economists only projects or guess). But if the rate the foreign funds are leaving wont change, it would not be long.

Bottom line siguro is, the economy is fine for now but something brewing and it's not good.

Parang naawa na ako kay De5, yun press live nya sa FB parang kulang na lang umiyak. Why I have so much heart for the underdog?

Maybe, we should all stop na this.

Eto yung current state ng index natin:

Yikes.... 20 straight days now that foreign funds have pulled money out of Philippine stocks. That's now the longest streak in about 9 years

I think Matobato comes off as more genuine, since he seems to be generally uncoached and inconsistent. - That said, while he is undoubtedly a hitman, as confirmed by PNP Chief Bato, I doubt he was part of any inner circle around Duterte, due to the inconsistencies in his testimony.

Disappointed. De Lima has been on the DDS case for years, and this is all she has? Pitiful.

    As for the Bilibid Boys:

To have half a dozen witnesses give consistent and corroborating accounts reeks of good coaching. Especially if the events are from long ago. Details will change. Stories will waver. Most likely these testimonies, whether true or not, were written, re-arranged and memorized, to make them more fluid and consistent.

    -

I believe that De Lima was acting poorly as Committee head... to the point of keeping other committee members in the dark regarding her evidence and witnesses. But it's unprecedented for a Senator to be removed from a committee simply for misconduct, without any Ethics committee hearings or whatnot.

Look, Ping Lacson was a fugitive for a year, and the Senate did not turn against him. Senators like Miriam and Trillanes go on incredible rants, and are out of order so often that it's unbelievable... no action.

De Lima brings one surprise witness... boom. You're out.

Not that there isn't some karma in this, where she acted as PNoy's hatchetman, violating the law at points to get the job done (even defying the Supreme Court)... but this is simply incredible.

I would have let her go on, tell her that the Matobato testimony has nothing to do with the current spate of EJKs, and let her hang herself with a mile of rope, if she really insists on doing things out of order.
Prolonging the sessions of both Matobato and the Bilibid boys would only further validate who has ulterior motives.

With Matobato - it is not just how inconsistent he is but the exaggeration in his testimonies that makes him not credible.

With Bilibid boys - it is how detailed it is that makes it sound too good to be true.

The other difference with the two are the timelines. I think the Bilibid boys are alledgedly testifying more recent events leading up to this year's election. With Matobato, it was allegedly from years back.

Dapat magpresenta na mga religious group. Bigyan nila ng safehouse si neo-matrix-matobato. Wag nila pakakawalan itong pagkakataon. Once in a lifetime lang ganito level of imagination sa senate. hahahahahah

    -

Sana sumalang ulit sa senate hearing si matobato. At itanong kung ano brand ng firearm ginamit nung 30 na bumaril.

    -

With the bilibid prisoner. Kung makakuha sila recordings sa telecommunication company para maprove kung nakausap ng preso si delima and her underlings at DOJ and driver sweet lover.

That's the thing, can we expect this admin to really keep the fundamentals the way they are? With our president's self immolating foreign policy and socialist posturing I feel it is only a matter of time.

Does this have to do with a possible Fed interest rate hike or our president's eloquent pronouncements? I just realized he just graduated from speaking in flowers to doing sign language.

    it's actually going on *EVERYWHERE*

a good portion in the world right now is overvalued.

a global depression has been looming for quite a while

it's just that central banks have been in denial for so long to save face.

like I've said before, it has more to do with regional and global trends rather than local policy per se.

if the economy shows positive growth, people will attribute it to previous administration and/or external factors such as regional trends in the emerging markets

on the other hand, if the economy goes negative because of an upcoming global financial crisis, people will blame Digong and the voters
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

Change has come indeed. Like it or not, this is the government's new come-on for foreigners.
