mga bay, i am a proud owner of a 2 month-old strada but i have nothing against a navara. share ko lang mga boss re: navara. about 2 - 3 months ago while my 1st degree cousin was driving my uncle's navara bigla nalang nagstop ang engine (dead) while running at 50km/hr on an open highway. it happened 3 times for a week.11 months palang nun ang navara nila but casa didnt find anything. until now inoobserbahan pa rin namin baka magloko ulit.
set aside Nav and Strada.... it would be Toyota Hilux then Isuzu Boondok.. awesome
Hi Sir locoroco777, maraming salamat sa imbitasyon! Paano pala mag pa member kasi nasa province kami. Pwede i post(al) namin yong application?
Sorry ngayon lang ulit napadpad dito... so ngayon ko lang nabasa!
hi guys. newbie here. trying to convince the practical side of me to get a pick-up as my first car (else i'll settle for a compact car).
been lurking a bit on the pickup threads. i'm looking for a pick-up that will last me 10+ yrs, ung mamahalin ko ba, maski marami ng gasgas at dents. but is it even a sane criteria nowadays to require a pickup to last 10+ yrs given all the new models & emerging technologies?
i'm after durability, reliability & long term fuel economy. Plus of course i feel the exterior has to be as close to classic-looking as possible for it na hinde malaos masyado.
considering specs on paper and feedback from forums, i shortlisted my choices to below..nilagyan ko na rin ng small differentiating comments ko:
1. Dmax - kaso boring ang interior. baka magsawa ako. heard na may pgka-pricey ang service ng isuzu.
2. Ranger - ganda interior, but for me, parang kapos ung pgka-truck look nya sa exterior (a bit soft). (The 2012 model tho looks tough.). baka hirap & mahal ng parts.
3. Navara - i like the beige interior, but katakot yung deformation nung area where your legs are if ever mabangga ng matindi.
feel free po to comment and even correct yung above. Baka may makuha pa ako inputs that could help me decide
others i've left out are
hilux - due to concerns on the D4D engine.
strada - the bang-for-buck arguments i've read sa threads are quite convincing, but IMHO its exterior is a bit too curved...parang madali mapagsawaan
bt-50 - looks don't appeal to me, and not sure if it's the same engine that has proved itself in the older models
thanks

btw, 4x2 lang siguro muna target ko. dual purpose for travelling with the barkada (full packs/bags, coolers, tents, outdoor gear, bikes, pde din surfboard)...and hatid-sundo for my parents (kaya comfort din impt pala)
try backreading sir....I think most of the question you posted were already answered...
thanks sir sa reply.
i have read threads actually before i posted...took note of good & bad. kaya bale nakapag-shortlist w/differentiating comments ko po. baka lang may defining advantage/input na mabigay ang actual users for me to sway into buying which one.
thanks!![]()
ahh I see sir....
well, actually if you would ask me...
assuming the quality of our diesel fuel here after 10 years is still the same(well I surely hope not)....I can surely say that no current truck in the market with a CRDi engine can last that long....but then again, assuming the Euro 4 diesel will be available in our market soon....this trucks will surely last longer...So I would recommend what am I using now...![]()
interesting point, sir. Di ko na-consider yung compliance factor ah.
Weren't the CRDi's sold here in the Phils "downgraded" to Euro 2?
i've read in the another thread na it's more of the contaminants that create problems. Could it be as simple as finding a fuel filter na hiyang kung baga sa diesel natin? Or as suggested in previous posts, regular filter change.
pa-isip tuloy ako na non-CRDi 2nd hand na lang kaya muna hanapin ko (on the premise na less sensitive ung previous generation of engines)...hmm...
![]()
yup, it is detuned...but it doesn't mean it is already dirty fuel proof....
with regards sa contaminants, yun yung mga times na machachambahan ka ng dirty fuel contaminated with water or station tank sediments(latak), so with that, paired with a commonrail direct injection diesel equals disaster...
now, what am I pointing out na nakaka apekto talaga for the long term use and engine lifespan is yung local fuel blend na euro 2 that has a high sulfur content...which in the first place is not meant to be used with the engine itself....kaya nga nag dedetune yung mga car companies ng kanilang mga CRDI engines pagdating dito...
for the filter I think hinde advisable yun....whats better to do is early replacemnet nalang kung 40k kms lifespan ng fuel filter gawin nalang 30k...
pwede din naman yun option mo na yun to settle with 2nd hand units...may mga fresh pa naman dyang natitira....problem mo lang dun...inde mo maeexperience yung hataka na parang binbaon kas sa upuan.. hehe![]()
hwag mo na alalahanin yung crdi-new truck problems. papalitan naman ng casa yung problematic part. yun nga lang, just be ready for the high cost of ownership when buying brand new. hindi dahil nairaos yung pambili ng unit tapos na gastos. far from it! with the newer diesels, you can only have your pms done at your brand's authorized dealer, hindi na pwede DIY
kahit na sa isteyts ka pa grumadweyt ng automotive ekek. eto kasi panghahawakan mo when getting warranty work done. sinwerte na lang ako na-daan sa goodwill yung turbo replacement ko. (salamat po uli ms beth, ms tet
)
for the corresponding pms prices for each brand, search na lang, i know its been tackled somewhere here in tsikot.
kaya buy na kung anu yung napupusuan mo, and enjoy the ride!
OT: sir locoroco, palagay ko madalas kita nakaka-salubong?
in fairness to all previous points made...
whether buying a crdi or non-crdi engine, will have it's own pro's and cons.
sure mahal ang maintenance ngayuon ng mga bagong sasakyan dahil halos lahat may electric component which are prone to failures, a fuel system that seems to demand a fuel that the local pet. companies cannot supply. and parts that are expensive to the everyday man.
maintaining an old vehicle can be as expensive and/or sometimes even more expensive than buying a new car.
consider that if you buy a brand new vehicle, given that it is driven and taken care of properly and maintained the right way, you can be lucky enough to get 5 years of trouble free or minimum headaches. but if you buy a second hand vehicle, expect your troubles to start the moment you drive off from where you bought it. I've been there, and i've done that. Buy second hand/used if you are willing to go through the maintenance regimen and have the facilities or know someone who has the shop to maintain your used vehicle purchase, otherwise, i suggest buy a new one, use it until its warranty ends(usually 3 years or 100k kms) and then just sell it afterwards.
i deal with engines everyday and i have an extensive fleet of vehicles both purchased new and used. and i have had my fair share of headaches with maintaining both sides.
But just remember to always weigh the costs before you decide on what diesel vehicle to purchase, these engines are not built the same and will perform diferent from each other and will like wise demand differently from the owner.
good luck in chossing your pickup!!!
* locoroco: sa malolos sir?
hehe, medyo marumi lang po
para hindi OT... see? nakakapag-offroad din nav kahit naka 20" hihihi.
ahhh parang pamilyar nga yang auto nyo sir....yung orange na mags....hehe...![]()
