May announcement naman ang Ford Ranger that this 2012, the 3.2-litre penta-cylinder is coming. This i think will guarantee the smoothest ride of them all, engine-wise (since it's a straight 5-cylinder) and chassis-wise (should come now with better suspension).

At a hindsight, as far as the current models are concerned:

If you're after ride comfort ---- the Navara ang Strada are well-suspended.

If you're after fuel-economy and engine longevity ---- the DMax 3.0 Ddi-iTEQ the most frugal of them all. Also, you know anyway for a fact that Isuzu are timing chain and gear-driven anyway. Our 2003 Crosswind has thus far travelled 320,000 km now and counting (no major engine maintenance nor opening up), and our 2004 DMax 3.0 TD Intercooler, the same no opening up of the engine, 300,000 km now and counting. Now, let's see if our 2008 DMax 3.0 Ddi-iTEQ can outlast the two.

If you're after chassis-longevity ---- both the DMax and the Navara have 8-cross members rolling chassis, the most number in the class.

But if i were you, i would wait for 2012.

    Goodluck!

Good PM. You now Engr., now these days d dinadaan sa reliability issues ang pagpili at pagbili ng DREAM CAR ng mga FILIPINOS. Ito'y binabase sa kanya looks, power, comfortable, fuel consumption, parts, maintenance cost, casa service, reliability, car-like driving at for all in one purposes.

For thos recommending that I wait for the 2012 models, do you have any timeline as to when they will be available? I'm planning to purchase kasi before the end of this year but if its a reasonable wait naman with my timeline like Jan or Feb next year, then I can supress the urge.

I've been going through the thread for each brand and I would say its getting confusing but revealing at the same time. May kanya-kanyang horror stories ang mga CASA, each model has its own known defects and problems. Ang maganda lang siguro is I get to learn what are the most important features that I should consider and yug strength ng bawat brand.

I have decided to go back to square one, identify the most important features that I want, treat each comment/observation with a grain of salt, and arm myself with lots of questions and a checklist when I start test driving each model.

    Keep those recommendations coming.

Yes that's the best you can do. Rank the features you need and want the most tapos pick a top 3-4 pick-ups you are eyeing and then rank them from 1-4 on the basis of the features. But this should be based on personal test drive sana para talagang alam mo yung gusto mo.

    For gunslinger,

I just want to add some comments to Ry_Tower's comment to you. He has made a great recommendation. Sir Ry_Tower if you don't mind.

    1. Get a top 3 and based it on what you NEED. The want(additional features) is just optional.
    2. The top 3 is based on the available model. If there are coming new models, you compare the new feature(s) to see if you need to wait for that new model and its worth the wait. You weight it to you need today.
    3. Get some pointers from your family. Their need(s) may give some weight on your choice.

Engineer!

In the same manner, pera pa rin naman niya gamit niya engineer, di ba?

Ayos ba engineer o ayos nalang sir engineer?

Sir, all current locally-available high/tall-stance utility pickups are good-to-wade against floods, to certain levels.

NOTHING really spectacular about it nor worth to rave about, as they should perform REASONABLY-well under such conditions ---- IT IS EXPECTED OUT OF THEM

ranger!!! ranger lang ang sealed ang ECU...

tests and actual use has shown that the ranger has the best fording capability amongst its counterparts... yun nga lang, it is conceded na dito sa pinas, medyo mababa ang resale value... pero kung pang utility talaga at hindi pang-japorms, ranger pa din ang da best.. ;)

In my previous company field service of the engr's are Fuego, Dmax, ranger and Hilux. The least problematic are Toyota, 2nd Isuzu, dead last Ranger. SO for utility and heavy cargo loading, ranger is definitely not the best based on my experience. Siya lang yung best in terms of acceleration and top speed. Good brakes too.

Choosing pick up, I also consider the passengers comfort. During test drive, advice ko to take your kids with you and sit with them at the back. I give more love to peoples comfort than car itself. Unless you will drive it alone always, just consider your own comfort
