Overlooking health issues, the fiberglass body will increase the efficiency of the jeepney by reducing it's weight BUT it still overlooks the issue that the jeepney itself is a dinosaur that needs to be replaced or (in the very least) re-invented with a better solution. What are the health effects of fiberglass?
Direct contact with fiberglass or with airborne dust containing fiberglass may irritate the skin, eyes, nose, and throat.
High levels of exposure to airborne fiberglass may aggravate asthma or bronchitis.
Long-term health effects associated with fiberglass are not completely known.
However, studies of people routinely working with fiberglass have not shown increased risk of long-term health conditions, such as respiratory disease, cancer, or allergic sensitization.

They should at least use cleaner and more fuel efficient engines not only for social responsibility but also for their own good as well. Tingnan naman natin, many reports say jeepneys have a similar fuel consumption as a passenger bus which has more than twice the passenger capacity and an engine more than twice the displacement. Paano sila kikita niyan? Jeepneys with 4 cylinder truck engines consume more fuel than gas guzzling V6 or even V8 engines? Gaano ka dilapidated kaya yan...And then they could probably do more aerodynamic designs, especially for highway going jeepneys. A departure from the overly boxy, wind-resisting shape would be good for fuel efficiency as well.
kahit ano redesign jeepney parin yan
number one cause of traffic
third world public transport driven by stupid jologs
ang dapat dyan phaseout hindi redesign
Fastest solution would be replacing 4 jeepneys with a bus. Consider the picture below:
Just think for 60 people, it takes 4 jeepneys to transport them (15 people per jeepney). Bus takes less space on the road so its just a matter of replacing them.
^^
exactly
True. Plus the political will to implement this. Plus if you propose to them the alternative, agad reklamo kaagad yan.

para sa mga jeepney driver there's no such thing as off limits na kalye
but the real question is... ano nga ba talaga alternative sa mga jeepney?
pwede if you build things from the ground up
like a brand new city with a transport system that only uses buses and subway system
bawal puj, tricycles, pedicab
buses operated by the govt. monthly salary ang driver. limited number of buses. get on and off at bus stops only
^ Kapag nawala jeepney, yung mga motorists like us lang matutuwa. The rest, rally na ng rally. Kung sabagay, they can't see the overall advantage of not having jeepneys at all. A 'greener' environment, less chaotic road encounters & less noise pollution.
For a tomas morato-timog-kamuning travel, let's say 2-3 coaster buses lang. Pero dun lang sila, they have designated drop-off & pick-up points. Nobody will stop unless they've reached their drop-off points.
After all, other people lived without jeepneys, why can't we?
this all boils down to planning (i.e. small roads where only jeepneys and tricycles can be accommodated)
Convenience taken at the expense of us motorists. Kahit saan pwede magpara kahit nasa gitna ng kalsada and almost all of the time there are no signal lights or brake lights to speak of.
Only a few petot more than the standard jeepney fare, mas mabilis sa jeepney at naka-aircon pa. Same goes with passenger buses.
Count out the tricycle drivers, mga peste din sila.

ya tamad kasi ang pinoy mag lakad. blame it on the climate
kaya kahit saan may masasakyan
kahit yung pwede lakarin gusto sumakay nalang
kaya may tricycle kuliglig pedicab. meron demand eh... so meron supply
The best alternative to the Jeepney would simply be to replace them all with more efficient, newer L300 FBs, Hyundai Porters and Kia KC2700s.
More efficient engines. Cleaner (well... I don't know about the L300...)... and safer.
If we want locally made jeepneys to reach even the low levels of sophistication that these FB-style vehicles possess, the only way is to ban the jeep and raise the fares to a level that will encourage businessmen and operators to invest in newer vehicles.
As it is... with the ultra-low fares of jeeps... lugi ka if you buy brand-new. Only way to achieve a quick ROI or even break even is to buy a secondhand POS made thirty years ago which has been around the block a million times.
Look at what happened to the PhUV. Even if they could get it out at 450k back then, there was no market. People who are looking at rudimentary transport like that are more likely to go for decade old secondhand Japanese diesels.

Fiberglass... aside from the health risks from the fibers (same risk you get from cigarettes... the fibers can puncture your lungs) and resins... fiberglass degrades with exposure to heat and UV. The strength and impact resistance goes down over time. It's a good replacement for some of the steel used, but you still need a frame underneath it, anyway...
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
