thanks in advance.

October 1st, 2009 05:04 PM #154Car is a '97 Honda LXi
It turns out na nasira yung alarm at na-short yung powerlocks. After gawing manual yung locks, nag-start na yung makina. Pina-idle ko sya for 30 minutes and I noticed na bumababa yung idle niya to about 500 rpm and the MIL is intermittenly turning on especially pag bumaba yung rpm nya to 500 rpm. Try ko sya road test around our block then off ko yung makina. Bago ko pala i-start after bahain, tiningnan ko muna yung oil dipstick, ala namang tubig, same color siya before mag-baha.
Sirs, what could be the problem? What would be the worst case scenario?

so nagstart sya kala ko ok na. then pagdating ng monday, dahil akala ko na ok na yung car, pumunta ko pasig to help out my relatives who were affected by the flooding. ok naman siya. di kami tumirik or namatayan.

October 1st, 2009 08:51 PM #156Hi Guys,
I have the same experience as you are and I've been browsing the internet since yesterday. Below are the things you should do:
1. Don't start the engine of your car if it was submerged in flood water.
2. Remove the battery, this is to minimize the damage to the computer box in your car. Mine is Honda City 2007 and I was told by Honda that it is sealed but with breather, so water could have still seep in though not 100%.
3. Start cleaning the engine of mud.
4. Check the air cleaner if wet or dry - wet then most probably water have entered your combustion chamber. To remove the water you can CRANK start the engine without the spark plugs after changing the oil. Hopefully this will do the trick.
5. Check the gas tank - open the drain plug without opening the trunk lid. This will ensure that minimal amount of gasoline will drain with water, as water is heavier and therefore will drain readily.
6. Clean the brakes.
7. Clean the air vents of mud as this will affect the condenser performance.
8. Laundry the removable interiors and sun dry.
9. Dry the sockets of left-over moisture by sun drying(leaving your car outside for at least a day in a sunny day) or air dry with compressor.
10. PRAY HARD!

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
