It can be DIY'd once you know where it is and you can access it (usually by dissassembling the airbox)... just spray it with a good contact cleaner. Just don't touch the sensor pin itselg as the part is sensitive.
For X-Trail accessories, a trip to Banawe can help (try checking out Autospecs).![]()
You can check with your CASA service advisor regarding that (where do you go for service BTW?). Ask him if the Xtrail MAF sensor is as sensitive to dirt as the the one from Sentra Exalta Grandeur.
Got my Exy serviced at Nissan U.N., problem with casas is that it takes a long time to get your car serviced. Kung pwede I-DIY, I'll take the DIY route.
O.T.: Is Nissan U.N. affiliated with Nissanbayan?
UN Ave? Nope...
It really takes time sa CASA. We go to Nissan Gallery Quezon Avenue usually (relatively better service based on my experience).
Hi! This is my first post in this board. I've been lurking around this board for quite a while now. I've found your topics to be very informative and entertaining.
Anyway, We just got our X-trail 250X two weeks ago. I'm a little bit disappointed to find some minor problems with the car. I hope you guys can shed some light on this.
1. Wiggle on steering wheel at 100kph to 115kph -- I was very disappointed here. After getting our car, we drove it directly up north via NLEX. Starting at 100kph, the steering wheel wiggles noticeably. Of course it irritates me since this is a brand new car. Above 115kph, the wiggle disappears. Below 100kph, there is no wiggle. I brought it back to the casa to have the wheels balanced. I tested it again at NLEX. This time, the wiggle was a little less, but it was still there. What gives? Could the balancing still be improperly done? Any other source of wiggle problems on a brand new vehicle with less than 200km on the odometer? Another problem is, we have to drive it to NLEX to test it since we need to hit 100kph.
2. Vibration on hood -- Xtrail owners, pls try this. With the engine running and a/c turned on, step on the brakes and shift to Drive, and just stay put with foot on the brake. Look at your hood infront of you. Does your hood vibrate noticeably? Mine does. If you let go of the brakes and start crawling, the vibration disappears. Or if you step on the gas a little (w/ brakes still depressed) to increase the rpm by 50-100, the vibration disappears. If you shift to Neutral, there is no vibration. This happens when the engine is warm already. Is this caused by a low idle RPM? Is there a way for the casa to increase the idle rpm by 50-100? I know new engines now are computerized, so I don't know if it's possible.
3. Brake dust -- there are lots of it, esp in the front wheels. Is this normal for a new car? or is it really inherent to the xtrail since it's wheels are somewhat "open" design.
4. Glove compartment - hard to close, and comes out completely at times. I guess this has been the flaw so many others have reported. I had it fixed last week, and so far, it's still holding up. The glove compartment feels cheap.
This is it for now. It makes me doubt if I made the right choice getting the Nissan. It's our first Nissan. We've owned Hondas and Toyotas eversince.
Thanks in advance.
Also noticed this problem tonight nung pauwi me sa Edsa. umabot me ng 100kph then bigla lakas ng wiggle ng steering wheel. tried it again (to reach 100kph) and ayun meron talaga wiggle sa steering. 1k pa lang naitakbo ng xtrail ko...bad trip naman yan ayaw ko below 100 lagi takbo. Anyone have solution for this? help naman pls. ano dapat gawin ko.Originally Posted by yenners81

#s 1, 3 & 5: We didn't have these problems.
2. I think this one is normal since you are trying to prevent a car from moving forward. Kung baga, may "laban". I am not sure about this though but this vibration is also present in our sedans w/c have smaller engines.
Thanks for the reply Kris.
The #2 problem is not present in our other automatics (97 Civic and 97 Accord). It seems like the rpm is a bit too low when you shift to Drive.
Another thing is the aircon in the 250x. Each time you switch on the aircon, the air-recirc switch always goes back to "outside air". Kinda annoying since you have to press the recirc switch everytime you turn on the a/c. Anyway to fix this for good?
We own a 250x as well and I'm puzzled by this one too. However, I'm too lazy to check the manual if there's a "fix" for this.Another thing is the aircon in the 250x. asked this already sa casa. yun daw ang programming ng aircon. its annoying nga pero sana maglabas sila ng parang firmware update para mas maging ok yung aircon.Originally Posted by Kris92306
Baka auto button pinipindot mo to turn on the aircon. Just press the fan button para manual mode. all settings before you turned off the aircon is stored this way.Originally Posted by Kris92306
Protrek, yes always I press the AUTO button for the a/c. I think I also experimented on pressing the FAN button for manual mode, and I remember the recirc switch goes back to "outside air" even if you left it in recirculate mode that last time you used it. Anyway, I'll try it again later.Originally Posted by PROTREK
I haven't encountered this problem. I think almost every electrical function is tied up to the computer system. Maybe you can just have it checked at the casa where they have this diagnostic tool to read error codes.Originally Posted by Caloyski5
