    maop99,

I still consider them as minor problems. Even other car brands we owned had some quirks when we got them brand new. But it's nothing the warranty could not resolve. Overall, I still find the 250x a blast to drive. Just make sure you inspect the unit before they actually assign it to you. Heck, I even test drove the unit to be assigned to me before agreeing to get it. I spent half an hour inspecting the exterior/interior, opening & closing doors, lights, a/c, stereo, locks, etc. But my problem is at 100kph so I wasn't able to detect it beforehand. (there is no nearby place where I can hit 100kph)

Someone posted on Nissanbayan as well with regard to a "vibrating" problem.. we replied to check the balancing first... If it persists, an independent tire shop like Servitek, Bridgestone, etc... can help check this. If it's nopt related to the tires, then it's time to really raise it up further with the CASA and NMPI.

Do keep your updates posted here.

On the doorlocks, we also had problems with our N16 Exalta Grandeur. What i discovered is that the Taiwan parts like the door locks arent as durable as the old Japan ones... it breaks when when someone is opening the doorhandle while you're still unlocking the door with the power locks.

    Ano gamit niyong fuel?

Brought it sa isa pang casa (Nissan O--s) last December, and ang advise nila was to use low octane fuel. After two full tank of unleaded (yung 92 RON) ay may knocking pa din at medyo mas malakas siya. So balik ako this year sa Blaze, paubos na yung Blaze ngayon at may knocking pa din pero paminsan-minsan na lang.

Ano kaya problem ng X-trail ko? 2 service advisor from different branch ay mag kaiba ang isolation process or diagnostics. Ano ba dapat kong gawin?

    Thanks in advance.

Bad fuel Maybe? Where do you fill up? I usually fill up in Petro Diosdado Macapagal using their lowest octane fuel which is 93 RON, no problems so far. Why don't you try going to Nissan Quezon Avenue... its associated with Nissanbayan and it has good service track record according to Nissanbayan members.

jay_el_330: AFAIK, mas malakas consumo ng 200X but maybe just a little bit, cause its heavier being a 4 x 4. I havn't driven an Escape so I can't comment on that, but you won't have any regrets getting an X-trail only complains I have is the glove compartment and plastiky interior.

    Nico,

I only use Caltex Gold or Shell Velocity. I have not used Petron fuel for several years now.(I'm picky with my gas stations) I had a bad experience with Petron fuel once and I blacklisted it eversince. I filled up my Civic Vti with Petron Blaze (or was it XCS+), and it had a hard starting problem every morning. My car starts in 1 click every morning, but after that Petron fuel, it would take 2 or 3 clicks. It took me a few days before I finished off the tank, then switched back to Caltex Gold. Voila... back to 1 click starts.

Re your tope problem, I noticed that you only go for Petron. Why not try Caltex Gold or Shell Velocity? By doing so, you can isolate your problem. If it still occurs, at least you will know that it's not the fuel. Go for a relatively new and clean gas station. Also, make sure you consume your existing tank of Petron fuel (till low fuel warning lights perhaps), then fill it up with another brand.

As per xtrail owners manual, it requires only 93 RON fuel, but I always go for the 95 RON. I really feel the difference in acceleration.

    yenners,

    thank for your reply.

I will try Caltex Gold next time pag paubos na yung kinarga kong Blaze. Thanks!

IMO, are you refering to the Nismo Body Kit? Wag mo na kunin yun, medyo O-A, kahit palatan yung mags to 18"s (235 55R18) oks na.

H4 yung headlights, yung Foglights di ko sure, check mo manual. Regarding sa HID, oks na yung 6000K for more visibility especially during heavy rains and or fog/smog. Bro balitaan mo ako kung saan ka kumuha ng HID and kung magkano TY.

This is my first time here. I finally found where Xtrail owners converge and exchange information.

I have a 250x model which I bought September 2004 and is now running at 10k+ km. I would just like to share some experiences I have which could be of help to other xtrail owners and future owners.

Among all the cars I had, for me this is the best so far. Value for money in the mini-SUV category, though some of you might disagree, i think the Xtrail is on top. Power is more than enough for its weight. Although the Escape or Tribute has 24 more bhp than the 250X, power to weight ratio would even up the two. Comparing the fuel consumption with my friend's V6 Escape, he only gets at best 6km/ltr while I average at 7.5km/ltr.

Maintenance cost is also a lot cheaper. Labor and parts prices of Nissan casas are i think cheaper compared to Toyota, Honda or Ford.

I read some disappoinments here but I guess these are not unique to the Xtrails or Nissans and most of it are very minor. My wife's camry had to go in for shock absorber bearing replacement (Toyota forgot to put the left shock bearing on some of camrys) and replacement of power window motor. Toyota na yan. My friends complain about the lack of power in the new CRV. Minsan talaga malas lang.

I am in no way biased to Nissan and in fact this is my first one. If ever I would be biased, e sa Toyota na. Most of our cars were Toyota's before, our business deals with Toyota, and my dad used to work for Toyota.

Yung complain about the steering wheel wiggle, most probably tire balancing lang. Yung interior lights working and Nissan saying about cellular interference - could be true coz my dad's MB had similar problems and same reason ng casa.

    Others:

    1. Ingat din sa paint ng bumper coz it easily peels of at the edges.
    2. Tried 170kph at Star and handling was stable.
    3. With my mentioned fuel consumption, I use Petron unleaded. I read about knocking engine in one of the thread. Try to change the gasoline station first before the brand. Try to get your fuel from one station alone and dapat hindi binabaha yung station. Newer station the better. Underground tanks of old ones could be rusted, seeping moisture, etc.
    4. I use Denso iridium plugs. The best! Improves engine idling, acceleration and fuel consumption. Mahal nga lang.
    5. Yes I agree about the poor resistance of the plastic interior to scratches. Kainis!
    6. Try getting an Ipod and cassette adapter for owners of 250X so you can have endless music you like.
    7. Use only distilled water for the washers. Bago pa car natin to prevent calcium deposits.
    8. I dont like the center armrest coz it moves easily (two way setting).
    9. I also hate the default fresh air. Di kasi fresh and air natin.
    10. Para sa akin, di nga bagay yung step board. Di naman mataas ang Xtrail at magmumukhang AUV.
    11. At 3k km i noticed my axle boot punctured and grease was spewing. Nissan westgate replaced it under warranty pero di daw dapat coz may tinamaan daw. Impossible at nakatago yung boot! They just placed it under warranty for good will. Yeah right! Buti na lang I do the rounds on my car every now at kung lumaki yung damage baga di na nila warranty.
    12. At Nissan westgate they wash your car under direct sunlight so if you go there for servicing, tell them in advanvce not to wash your car else you will have paint damage.
    13. I advise putting a recessed back-up sensor. Have a good technician install it coz it means boring a hole in your bumper. There are stick-on types which dont need holes but it does not look OEM.

At the end of the day, kanya-kanyang taste tayo so my comments are IMHO. Whatever you do with your car, as long as it adds to your driving pleasure, do it and enjoy it. Kasihodang snow white and the seven dwarfs dolls pa yan.

    Happy motoring!

Zeagle, that was a comprehensive feedback on your X. Thanks for all those info.

This caught my attention. Can you check this out on your 250x: With a/c on, shift to Drive, remain stepping on the brakes, look in front of you and check if your hood is vibrating. Mine does! and it's annoying. It has been like that since day 1. I brought it to casa for service and they say it's normal for all xtrails. I doubt it. They already checked the rubber stoppers on the hood, and they seem to be ok. I feel that my idling rpm is a bit low. Our unit has less than 2000km on the odometer. With your recommended Denso iridium plugs, I'm wondering if it might help eliminate the vibrations.

Dude sorry to say this but it is normal. Mine is like that as well. It is more evident on a dark colored xtrail like mine (black). I guess sanayan lang. Talagang manipis yung yero. One remedy if it really irritates you is to reinforce that section with something. Try gluing an aluminum flat bar across that area to reinforce it. Anyway I don't think that it will aestetically affect your underhood coz there will be insulation covering it. Use sikaflex to glue it. Tibay ng sikaflex. Industrial strength yan used by bus body builders.

Can you give us the part #? Where did you buy your iridiums?

Is the signal clear? I read from other forums that you can get an HU with a preout for IPods. But thats an expensive alternative

How much did Nissan Westgate charge you for your 10T Kms PMS?

What motor oil do you use? Viscosity? Synthetic ba? Does Nissan Westgate allow you to bring your own motoroil? Possible savings if we buy outside the casa.

Signal is clear if you use the cassette adaptor. However, it is indeed a lot better if you connect it directly to audio input of your unit. 250X radio i think does not have aux input so i have to make do with it. Else i have to change the unit and make the steering wheel radio controls useless.

I spent around Php3,300+ for 10km PMS using the Nissan synthetic oil that they carry. So at 15km PMS I will just ask them to replace the filter and top up the oil. Therefore, it does not come out that expensive. And yes, you can bring your own oil. Another customer did that when I was there.

Actually, it's better to not have the CASA wash you car after servicing... palinis ng interior pwede pa. They usually don't know how to do the cleaning or use the proper materials, causing swirl marks afterwards.
