2.5L or 3.2L? Anybody with the 3.2L? experiencing the same problem with steering?

can i just inquire from those affected kung GLS or GLX ang mga strada nyo and what month/year you got your unit? it might be good to document these details regarding the problem identified.

pwede matanong kung ano ang nangyari sa strada mo that made you realize may problema sa steering column? pareho ba sa mga na-experience nung iba? just wanted to know para kung may early symptoms that could be identified agad regarding sa problem na yan, at least may idea kaming mga other strada owners who haven't (and hopefully will never) experienced it on what to watch out for.

thanks in advance for the reply.

kala ko dati wala naman yun, pero parang lumalakas yung tunog.. its quite irritating when you feel/hear something in the steering wheel when turning.. specially pag stop ka tas mag turn.. got my unit Dec. last year..

20k kms. na, on and off road, isang biyaheng ilocos norte, dalawang biyaheng samar at wala pa namang problem.

I asked what could be the defect in the steering and he said he doesn't know but there is just a directive from the main plant to change the whole steering system once there's a complaint.

I guess one important question to ask also is for those who had their steering system changed, has there been a recurrence of the same problem?

mga peeps just a heads up. we were working on a new strada changing the horns when we noticed that there was oil dripping at the bottom of the car. we checked the dipstick and there was indeed no more oil. we told the owner and the local Mitsu SA went to our shop and saw that the oil was coming from the oil filter. Talked to the owner, he said that he had just had his oil changed about a week in another city. So the Mitsu SA went back to the casa get the needed parts new oil filter and oil and changed the oil filter in our shop. When they removed the oil filter the old gasket of the oil filter was there, the one who did the oil change did not remove it. The SA said that this is common to stradas specifically during the first oil change, the rubber gasket of the oil filter sometimes gets stuck. Strada peeps make sure you check the old filter when changing oils so that you can be assured that it was not left in the motor making the oil leak after using it for a while, in this case 400kms after.

Thanks ARB. Will check it tomorrow before heading down south again.

    Drey,
I inquired about the LSD being installed in the 2.5 and the chief tech said that it couldn't be done because it may not fit in the housing. He said that I have to change the whole axle which is going to be very expensive.

Ayos ba sir ARB?

not sure pa is may application na ng ARB lockers for the new strada. But if you want to put LSD in your existing rig, get the diff model and see if may aftermarket LSD avail for that particular diff model. but I think the 2.5 and thhe 3.2 have the same diff lang.

We have replaced the steering column of our 2.5 gls m/t strada already under warranty because of very noticeable vibrations when traveling on bumpy roads. SA told us that mitsubishi already revised the design by having fewer linkages to decrease the vibration. This part is really a factory defect so better have yours replaced under warranty cause they didn't announce a recall of this part.

Very honest and knowledgeable ang SA mo. Papalitan ba nila kahit wala ka pang problems? Kasi kung factory defect ito, it will come out sooner or later. Kikilatisin kong maigi yung sa akin. Thanks a lot for the info.

I would certainly appreciate honesty. And it will show their concern for the consumers.

I hope that they replace it even without symptoms.. Our strada is in GenSan (serviced there too) and there are many rough roads there which might be the reason the problem manifested earlier, around 10k kms only. Maybe they corrected it already with the new batch of stradas.

I believe yes, they've corrected this in the US Outlander's problem (1st Batch). Mitsubishi is really taking promises seriously and I hope they are reading this and backing me up.

It seems bothering that Mitsubishi acknowledges that there is a steering wheel problem...but they are not 'recalling' the units..

For me its better for them to change it rather than waiting for people to complain. There should also be a possibility of voluntarily changing the steering wheel parts so that the problem could be avoided when you least expect it to happen. Just my two cents.

I understand your point sir. But I don't see other manufacturers did the same. All are silent recalls, I think... Hyundai for example recently recalled Vera Cruz's engine that it may explode due to some defective part. "See Vera Cruz thread". It's also a defense to manufacturer's, since recalls is purely a negative word to Pinoys. Going through the older pages, Mitsubishi told us its not a life-threatening issue. Its just an irritating sound.

So did Toyota D4D, Honda Civic's and Nissan Xtrail...

I agree with you 100%. For sure the manufacturers are trying to do damage control coz this will have a negative impact on their sales and reputation.

However, I am uneasy about this fact that the 'whole steering assembly' is being replaced and that despite of this, they are still able to say that it is not life threatening. If it is just a bushing or something, why replace the whole thing.

Anyway, I do not want to be mis-interpreted here. And please do not get me wrong here, I am getting my STRADA by the end of the week. Just expressing my thoughts.

Since I had my rig's whole steering assembly replaced by Diamond Motors 2 mos. back, the problem has so far not recurred. I had a long drive to Buguias, Mt. Province last weekend and drove through some rough terrain all the while praying that the steering assembly holds. Well, it seems the automotive gods blessed me with a trouble free run all the way back to Manila with neither a suqeak or clunk heard from the Strada's steering collumn!
