Sayang, ibang porma ng FM kesa sa mga bagong SUV ngayon, mas masculine look. I prefer yung paint ng FM mo ngayon kesa sa preferred white color ng BK.

BTT: how about the 2017 Pajero with VGT? beside the power and torque upgrade wala naman yata masyado nabago sa interior/exterior. do you consider it still a good buy?

I'm considering on a "local" 1999 Fieldmaster 4x4 auto tranny.

What are the things to be wary about on this model?

Helpful tips on checking the vehicle would be greatly appreciated.

Check any rattling in the interior panels. Common sa FM yung rattling interior

Check if the vehicle has a history of overheat. Aluminum head ng 4M40. If nag crack na, usually replace na

Check if the car has history of carnap. Uso pa carnap that time

Check underchassis parts. Mahal ng underchassis ng FM

Check AT tranny. Mahal din

Check 4x4 system. Usual problem is blinking 4x4 lights

Check injection pump. At around 100-120k km, need na to overhaul/"calibration"

Check tires. Any decent brand tires will cost 9k each.

I think the review just short of saying na at P2.7M, much better buy pa din yan kesa TOTL Fort, MS, Ranger etc. Iba talaga inetrior niyan vs those cars. Plus proven na durability. It is more comfortable as well. I'm saying this kasi pinsan ko na may MS nagsabi mismo na mas maganda daw talaga pajero bk (non-vgt pa ito) if you compare between the two.

i agree with the rattling. i even took out my third row seats, and i put some cloth underneath the second row seats to get rid of the vibration.

the first i did with mine was to change all fluids and check the suspension parts and replaced those worn out already.

rebuilt the AT few years after i bought it. calibrated the IP. i'm having it overhauled because it shows signs of blowby.

the FM is an old car (mine is already 16 years old) but still a keeper. and once you replaced those worn out parts, it feels like new.

as it stands now, it has the toys of most modern midsize SUVs.

another thing to watch out, is yung mga interior panels. specially sa dashboard. yung mga aircon vents will start cracking na due to age and UV exposure. yun yung last na nasira sa FM ko kaya decided to let it go na.

A seller I texted thru olx told me that his was a 1999 Ralliart version (it has those wheels), and is a limited edition as well, daw ... (1/100 units). Has a moon/sun roof din daw ...

Was there such a model?

yes, my center vent also cracked. i replaced it with oem, but a little bit pricey.

I see. But there are advertised units (2001 up) in OLX that are called Fieldmaster/Ralliart editions.

I think the Ralliart models had the sun/moon roof, while the Fieldmaster was 4x2, and no sun/moon roof.

Maybe there are sellers that swap Fieldmaster alloys for Ralliart then claim that its a such model?

^AFAIK, walang local released na may sunroof. Ralliart model stared 2003, with the add on of ralliart mags, DVD monitors, and bumper overrider. 2005 model change color na ng interior.
