Last week on my way back to Manila from Pangasinan i tried to stick at 80km/h average speed. I only exceeded 80 km/h when overtaking in SCTEX and NLEX (pushing it to 120 km/h sometimes).

This is the fuel economy I got:

    Mitshubishi Adventure Sports 2000 Diesel
TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED ~ 181 km
TOTAL FUEL CONSUMED: 12.57 LTRS Diesel
    AVERAGE FUEL CONSUMPTION ~ 14.3 km/L

Lancer MX 2001 Invecs-II 4speed A/T - only getting between 7-8km/li on metro traffic especially with some rush hour driving.

Havent been able to take it for a spin on the NLEX or SCTEX. Ive heard from other users of the same car model and they get as much as 12-14km/li when driving purely highways.

Sir makapag share lang if you don't mind. Ako after talaga sa makatipid sa FC kasi daily manaha travel ko since sa Rizal ako nag stay and ang work ko ay sa Alabang,Laguna and Cavite area. I am driving a Lancer 96 Glxi and Pajero FM M/T 2.8L. I am practicing the ffg :
    1. From stop, I usually turn off my aircon to gain HP. as soon as I Hit 2nd or 3rd gear then I will turn on the aircon again. This is only about 10-15 secs and hindi naman mawawala agad lamig. Based sa ibang article nabasa ko, aircon can drain as much as 20HP so imagine the load.
    2. Most of the time maintain ko 80-90KPH tops speed. 1st gear 10-20KpH, 2nd gear 20-30, 3rd gear 30-40 4th gear 40-60 and 5th gear is 60 above KPH
    3. Bawasin din ang unnecessary items to reduce weight.
    4. Alaga ko lang sa change oil ang rides ko. I religiously follow 5K bet. oil change
    5. Sa aircon, kung mag-isa ako sa akin nakatapat lahat ang vents #2 or 3 settings ng fan speed and setting ng thermo stat is 11 to 12 o'clock
For my Lancer 96, naglalaro FC ko sa 10-12Km/L at sa Pajero 99FM naman ay nasa 7.8-9.0 Km/L.

Another thing I can suggest is to observe the gas stations na lagi mong nadadaanan, the price differs by as much as P2 though pareho lang sila brand. Ex. On my way to work to Alabang, sa Pasig ro Angono ako nagpapagas kasi mas mura ng almost P1.25. compared sa Alabang area. Sa Taguig service road area almost P2 difference.

Also, you may use the tie up of your credit cards with Fuel brands. Ex. in my case since I use HSBC, I frequent caltex since I have 5% discount. For shell if you have Citibank MC the same case at 5%. Pag nag Petron ako, I submit naman my SM advantage card together with my HSBC kahit papaano may rebate. So far I can managed naman to waived the annual fee so walang added cost.

Indirectly iyung dalawang items mentioned adds to your FC savings.

    Hope na valuable na-share ko

    I second d motion sir dcarin14..

ganyan din po isa kong economical driving technique..i off ang AC during starting roll and kapag nakabwelo na, online ulit sya..ramdam mo na nag lessen yung engine load sa arangkada kapag naka off ang AC..

then sakin po, max cruising speed ko lang is 70 kph, thats around 2000 rpm on the 5th gear.. btw, mine po is a PAJERO 4D56 TDIC m/t local unit..

mga 10 times ko na pong na test ang Fuel consumption nya and hindi nagbabago using my driving technique..

    13 kms/ltr highway
10-11 kms/ltr ct driving ( depends on traffic condition)

nabasa ko po kc sa owners manual yung range ng economical driving speed and i just followed it and d results were satisfactory..

in conclusion po, mas mabigat ang paa sa accelerator pedal, mas magastos sa gas.

Ang fc ko ngayon, city driving 50/50 aircon on/off ay 12 km/l at maximum speed of 20 km/hr. Highway driving, 17 km/l with aircon on at average speed of 80 km/hr. Parang walang acceleration ang oto pagnagdrive ako. At 40 km/hr nasa 5th gear na ako pagpatag at smooth ang daan. 1993 Lancer EL ang oto ko.

Sir looks like we are on the same boat, budget na 400-500K d b? d lang dapat tingnan yung fc on km/l, look at the cost per kilometer. Cr-v goes at 6-8kms/L city driving, tpos yung pajero 2.8 I think would do the same depending on your driving habit. Kso the price of gas(40-45/L) vs. diesel(30/L) and the difference widens... I'd go with the pajero mukhang ok nanaman yung mga galing cagayan un like yung subic na metsamba...

Thanks for the replies sirs! Medyo matakaw pala sa fuel ang gasoline advie, pero sulit naman na siguro sa performance nho specially when you are looking for speed.
