March 31st, 2008 05:50 PM #81I drive two Mitsubishi Lancers, 1 is a 1993 Gli which we got brand new in 1993 with manual transmission and no power steering. The other is a 1997 GLXi with manual transmission which I bought 2nd hand last year.
I use to get 10.5 km/liter city driving with the 1993 Gli until I started using Shell e10. I found out that I could advance the timing up to 3 degrees. This gives me more response and up to 11.5 km/liter city driving. At one time I went to Bongabon, Nueva Ecija for a wedding and I got almost 15 km/liter.
My usual fuel economy for the GLXi is 9.5 to nearly 10 km/liter city driving. I got almost 13 km/liter when I went to Clark for a wake.
My usual drive involves traveling from my house at Cainta to my office in Quezon Memorial Circle dropping my kids to school along the way and back home which is about 15 kilometers in the morning because I have to pass by school and 13 kilometers in the evening.
I maintain the text book maintenance (change oil at Petron Station using replacement oil and air filters) and change the spark plugs myself.
The GLi has logged 124,000 kms while the GLXi has logged 135,000.
I wish I could get better fuel economy.

May 14th, 2008 08:32 AM #89Hi! I am a newbie here. I am using a 1997 mitsubishi lancer glxi a/t and my FC is about 6-7km/l city driving. I may not be that knowledgeable but I think this is below par. My friend said this used to record 8-9km/liter. I am using shell unleaded gas. Do you think I should shift to shell premium, shell e10 or maybe petron xcs? How can my rpm gauge help me? My route is to/from UP campus and cubao via katipunan everyday.
thanks for your input.
